Leeds United have finally made a move for Everton man Ben Godfrey by approaching Sean Dyche’s side over a loan deal for the England international – and Dyche is willing to let the defender leave.
Godfrey, 26, is expected to leave Goodison Park in the final few days of the window – having managed just three appearances for Everton during the first half of the season. Atalanta made a move for Godfrey.
But, it fell through. The Sun report that a change in tax rules in Italy saw the £10m deal fail. So, he is still at Everton in search of a move as we enter the final few days of the window. Leeds are interested in him.
Leeds’ interest first emerged from Italy, but has since been confirmed on these shores. Graeme Bailey told LeedsUnited.News that Godfrey admires Leeds – and that a reunion with Daniel Farke could tempt.
Now, The Sun say Leeds have made a bid for Godfrey to bring the former Norwich man in on loan until the end of the season. The report says that Toffees boss Dyche has given him the ‘green light’ to leave.

It looks like Leeds are set to ramp up their work in the transfer window this week, and it is needed with the deadline in sight – and Leeds yet to replace the losses of Djed Spence and Luke Ayling in defence.
Leeds need a right-back, and possibly a centre-back and a left-back in order to bring in the required depth ahead of the Championship title run-in. Godfrey would cover all three positions at Elland Road.
A player with supreme class and quality, one that Farke knows well, and versatile in defence. The only issue, is that Leeds are not the only club after him. A move to Championship will surely be a last resort.
