Anton Stach is a midfielder who signed for Leeds United in the summer transfer window of 2025.

Leeds United needed a strong transfer window ahead of their return to the Premier League and made Anton Stach their sixth summer signing.

Who is Anton Stach?

Anton Levi Stach is a talented footballer who has fought his way up the German football pyramid.

After starting his career aged 12 at Wolfsburg, Stach played for clubs – and the second teams of clubs – in the German third and fourth tiers before getting a move to the second division in 2020.

It took years of scrapping, but Stach finally made it to the Bundesliga when he helped Greuther Furth win promotion in his first season.

Yet, it would be Mainz whom he would play for in the top flight after being snatched in 2021.

Stach proved he is a capable player at the highest level and two years later was on the move again, sealing a £10m transfer to Hoffenheim, where he is one of their most important players.

He made his senior debut for Germany in 2022.

Anton Stach to Leeds United transfer

Leeds were left gutted after missing out on the talented Diarra to Sunderland, with the Black Cats prepared to pay more than the Whites to secure the signing.

However, instead, Leeds turned their focus towards Stach as an alternative that suited Farke’s needs even more.

The Yorkshire Evening Post’s Graham Smyth reported that Leeds have “identified a ball-winning specialist” in Stach as their next top target.

With two years left on his contract and Hoffenheim wanting to keep their man, Leeds might have to pay between £15m-£17m for Stach.

As it transpired, Leeds agreed to pay £19.9m in total for Stach, £17.3m guaranteed and an additional £2.6m in bonuses.

After his signing was confirmed on July 22, Stach credited Farke as a big factor in convincing him to make the switch.

Anton Stach age

Stach was born in Buchholz in der Nordheide, Germany, on November 15, 1998.

As of July 2025, he is 26 years old and at a great age to continue developing as a player in England.

How tall is Anton Stach?

Stach stands at a towering 6’4″ tall, which is especially big for a centre-midfielder.

Other than Gudmundsson, who at 5’11” is tall for a full-back, Leeds exclusively signed players at 6’1″ or over in the summer in a clear strategy to enter the Premier League as one of the tallest squads.

Anton Stach salary

According to SalarySport, Stach earned £36,000 a week at Hoffenheim, which works out at about £1.8m a year.

That would place him among Leeds’ top earners, but it’s not yet clear what he earns at the club.
