What Leeds United ‘believe’ Harry Gray will do with Spurs, Newcastle and Aston Villa interested

Leeds United’s Harry Gray has had other Premier League clubs monitoring his situation at Elland Road, with his 17th birthday on the horizon.

It is just over two weeks until Leeds United forward Harry Gray can sign a professional contract for a maximum of three years aged 17, with the 16-year-old only penning a new scholarship deal at Leeds this summer.

His rise and development has been a major talking point of 2025/26, despite the youngster only appearing for the U-21 side thus far. Gray has been nominated for awards at U-21 level already.

That is very likely to stir up more interest in Leeds’ young striker from Spurs — but also potentially beyond. In fact, Leeds fans wanted Gray to play against Wolves recently.

Those calls came after Gray shone alongside Jonny Howson against Scunthorpe United in the National League Cup. Now, Leeds United News have the latest on his future following the recent impressive displays.

Harry Gray decision looms amid other Premier League interest

Leeds United are very proud of their prestigious academy and Harry Gray is the ‘prized jewel’ of Leeds currently as the brother of fellow Leeds wonderkid Archie Gray.

The 16-year-old has already made one appearance for the Whites, with Harry becoming the latest from the Gray family dynasty to represent Leeds at senior level.

Even if the Leeds academy has declined of late, Gray is the shining light currently. The problem is, his potential and ceiling are enormous and other sides know it.

Gray remains happy at Leeds despite Spurs links emerging, while Gray’s father Andy is happy with the progress at Leeds so far as well.

With his birthday not far away, we asked Leeds United News’ transfer correspondent Graeme Bailey for the latest on Gray’s current situation. He said: “Until that contract is signed and done, there will be worry from all Leeds fans. No doubt about it, until that’s over the line.

“They’re very close with people like the Cresswells and Grays who run him. It’s a very good relationship Leeds have got with them. They think, at the moment, Leeds is the best place for him. He’s very happy there.

“He’s been more involved with the first-team. Leeds love him. You know, there’s always been this thing of, ‘is he going to be better than his brother’ and that sort of thing etc. So, they are desperate to keep him.

“From what I’m told, Leeds believe he will sign. There is interest elsewhere, though. You know, if Harry Gray suddenly came on Instagram saying, ‘I’m leaving Leeds’, he would literally have his pick of a number of clubs but he’s not going to do that.

“Leeds are very happy with him. From what I’m told, he’s very happy at Leeds. He will be signing that contract next month.

“But Tottenham know all about him. Man City, Newcastle, Villa — basically every major Premier League club has looked at him, but they’re the ones I’ve heard. They’re the ones I’ve heard in particular.”

Adding further to this, Leeds United News have been informed by club insiders speaking anonymously to protect relationships that Gray would probably have left Leeds for another club before the age of 17 were it not for the fact he is a Gray.

Finlay Gorman (Man City) and Oliver Boast (Spurs) are two examples of that in recent years, but the family ties to the club make remaining more enticing for Harry.

Daniel Farke’s most recent Harry Gray comments

Farke’s most recent comments on Gray are perhaps a sign of things to come, given that Gray may well be on the fringes of the first-team. However, it does not seem that he has a huge part to play immediately.

Farke named Gray on the bench against Wolves, but he spoke prior to the game and said: “I don’t want to sound arrogant, but I gave Harry his debut in the crunch time.

“If I were to back a manager to be brave enough to play a young player, to know what a young player needs, I’d pick me. Harry needs to train with the first-team — experience physicality of the Premier League.

“He needs game time with the U-21s to stay in his rhythm and not to lose his striker instinct. He needs time and peace to develop. You will see him once he is prepared for Premier League games.”
