Leeds United are focused a lot on incomings currently, but outgoings are also required as well to trim the squad and wage bill of excess.
The likes of Jack Harrison, Illan Meslier, Joe Gelhardt, and Sam Greenwood all face uncertain futures at Leeds United this summer, with some fringe and squad players likely to be sold.
Another of those includes Max Wober. Previously, it’s been stated that Wober has been asked to leave Leeds following the club’s promotion back to the Premier League.
The Austrian spent last season on loan with Borussia Monchengladbach but has 28 appearances in all competitions for Leeds either side of the 2023/24 campaign.

Leeds’ Max Wober closes in on Bundesliga return via Werder Bremen
Signed by Victor Orta in January 2023 under Jesse Marsch, Wober was unable to help Leeds survive and soon after activated his release clause to go to the Bundesliga, which is where he could now be set to return.
VfL Wolfsburg are keen on Wober alongside Borussia Monchengladbach, as our exclusive revealed. However, we also detailed that other unnamed Bundesliga sides were in the race.
One of those has since been revealed to be Werder Bremen, according to German outlet BILD. They state Bremen are close to signing Wober.
The centre-back is still under contract with Leeds until 2027 but would cost a “low million-pound fee” to bring back to the Bundesliga from Leeds.
After making only nine appearances last season, and with Sebastiaan Bornauw arriving alongside Jaka Bijol, Leeds are well stocked at centre-back for Wober to now leave after two-and-a-half seasons contracted to Leeds.
The news of Wober leaving this summer has delighted Leeds fans already, with Leeds reportedly wanting around £5 million for Wober.

Max Wober’s Leeds and Austria dilemma explained
Realistically, with Leeds players receiving a Premier League wage rise, Wober is going to be one of the club’s top earners again this summer.
Of course, that may have tempted the 27-year-old to remain, even with the 2026 World Cup on the horizon. However, a place in that Austria squad is still up for grabs and regular first-team football will help him achieve it.
He is far too expensive a player to be sitting on the bench from a Leeds perspective, but he may simply have to take a wage reduction in order to play regular minutes again.
While Aaronson started 44 of 46 Championship games and featured in all of them, Wober only managed nine appearances during 2024/25. It’s a pitiful figure and he clearly has no future at Leeds.
