Leeds United have seemingly picked up the pace this week with the club making moves for Udinese star Jaka Bijol and Strasbourg captain Habib Diarra, while also being linked with Shea Charles.

Leeds have stepped up talks to sign Slovenia international Bijol, who has captained both Udinese and his country over the last 12 months. Meanwhile, Leeds have tabled a £22m bid for Senegal midfielder Diarra.

Charles was nominated for the Championship Young Player of the Season award and Leeds want to land the Northern Ireland ace. David Healy recently tipped Charles to become Northern Ireland’s captain.

But if Leeds are to stage a major influx of new signings, room will need to be made. Five players are now expected to leave – with Junior Firpo, Josuha Guilavogui and Sam Byram’s contracts due to expire.

Leeds United fans react as Max Wober says he will leave the club

Manor Solomon and Joe Rothwell meanwhile, have returned to their parent clubs in Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth. More exits are likely, with Illan Meslier and Patrick Bamford’s contracts ending in 2026.

Aside from those, Max Wober was always expected to be leaving. After two operations and nine outings last season, Wober says Leeds have told him he will be sold by the club in the coming weeks and months.

Leeds fans have responded to Wober’s comments, which came after Austria’s 2-1 win over Romania in which Wober started and was described by media as Austria’s “best” player. Fans are happy to see him go.

While Wober was one of two players to return to Leeds after using Victor Orta’s loan clause along with Brenden Aaronson, but clearly fans still aren’t happy with Wober. One said he’s “hopefully going”.

A number of supporters simply responded to the news that Wober had been informed he would be sold by posting “good”. Another said “good goodbye”, while another described Wober as “bang average”.

The feeling among Leeds fans is that Wober should have left Leeds in the past, with one saying “12 months too late”. It is unclear where Wober could go, but has been touted with Salzburg in the past.

How much Leeds are willing to sell Max Wober for this summer…

When it comes to some of the eight players that used Orta’s loan, Leeds have had to take a loss on their initial outlay. Largely because they are not wanted at Leeds and The Whites have put them up for transfer.

Marc Roca and Diego Llorente were bought for a combined £28m, but they were sold for less than £7m. Rasmus Kristensen has completed a permanent move to Frankfurt for £7.7m, £2.3m less than his signing.

Robin Koch was a complete loss, leaving at the end of his contract while Leeds are believed to have broken even on Luis Sinisterra. Leeds have decided to request £5m for Wober, meaning a £5m loss.
