Tottenham fans all saying the same thing about Archie Gray returning to Leeds United, ‘it’s a no brainer’

Archie Gray has taken on a much more hands-on role than expected at Tottenham since leaving Leeds United.

Gray’s £40m departure broke Leeds fans after the academy graduate performed so well in his one and only season at Elland Road.

It was always clear that if Leeds didn’t get promoted, a Premier League club was ready and waiting, and Spurs happened to be that team.

He’s had his challenges in his first season with Spurs, as Gray has been praised for his versatility, playing most of this campaign at centre-back, and Whites fans will know of this tool he has, with the midfielder playing at full-back last season.

Now his future with Spurs has been debated, and fans of the North London club are all in agreement about what’s next for Gray.

Tottenham fans want Archie Gray back at Leeds United

With Spurs having a dire season, it’s not exactly gone well for Gray in terms of being thrown into the deep end.

After Tottenham’s 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace, it hands Ange Postecoglou’s side their 20th league defeat of the season.

Even though it’s been a tough season, it’s been dubbed that the sky is the limit for Gray, but it doesn’t seem like Spurs fans agree.

The young midfielder had the chance to play in his actual position in the defeat to Palace but the Tottenham faithful didn’t enjoy his display, and make their feelings very clear when asked about whether Gray should return to Yorkshire.

@Niko7146 said: “Please take him.”

@Jamie6191was claimed: “After the last few performances, I’d drive him to Yorkshire myself,
Nowhere near the levels.”

“I wouldn’t be adverse to a loan where he plays week in week out in the Prem. He’s not ready for a side with CL pretensions,” @Duffster73 said.

@Hale1906 hasn’t taken his versatility into account, saying: “He’s nowhere near the levels for a midfield place.”

@Joelclements wants a refund: “If we could recoup what we spent on him, it’s a no-brainer, doesn’t really excel in any areas, perhaps he’s been mishandled by Ange and could improve under a different manager who knows.”

@LouisFarrell has suggested a loan to Leeds: “If we loan him back to Leeds and he gets into that starting 11 in midfield, what’s the issue. Prem minutes week in week out, confidence and physicality up. What’s not to love about the move.”

Gray moving back to Leeds will reignite form

To make such a big move at the age of 18 is always a risky decision, and to make matters more difficult, he’s had an incredibly unlucky season with Spurs.

Taking this into account, the comments seem harsh, but even Leeds fans wouldn’t take Gray back, which seems quite ridiculous.

The difference in the top flight and the Championship is clear, but after Gray has had the brunt of it this season, he could certainly replicate his fortunes from his first season at Leeds.

With this in mind, Daniel Farke should think about a possible loan move in what could prove to be a major transfer in helping Leeds stay up.

Farke said Gray outgrew Leeds, but with him now being taken back a peg or two, he can refind his form back at his boyhood club.
