Leeds United could be about to sanction an exit for one of Daniel Farke’s first-team squad from 2024/25.
Max Wober has left Leeds United on loan to Werder Bremen, while Josuha Guilavogui and Junior Firpo have been released from their contracts.
Outgoings are paramount and they will be more of a focus than incomings over the next month, given that Rasmus Kristensen is the only player the club have been able to sell this summer.
Isaac Schmidt is one player among the eight players that can leave Leeds permanently in the remainder of the transfer window, but Schmidt is joining Wober on loan at Werder Bremen if Leeds can replace his minutes at full-back.

Leeds fans react to Isaac Schmidt exit talk
Daniel Farke has explained he values Schmidt previously and it had even been suggested that Schmidt might stay at Leeds following promotion, but he was routinely overlooked after he signed from St. Gallen in the summer of 2024.
Farke opted against playing Schmidt regularly and now he could move on after Schmidt threatened to leave Leeds previously if his game time didn’t change during a World Cup year and with designs on a Switzerland call-up.
Leeds fans are frustrated that Schmidt looked impressive when he was utilised, but Farke’s reluctance now means he will move on. One said: “Well that was short lived 😂 Always thought he looked decent, but he’s clearly just playing for the wrong manager. #lufc”
Another added: “Not surprised that Schmidt is leaving tbh. Certainly a good a player in there Gutted that he didn’t the minutes last season. #LUFC”
A further pair of responses stated: “That leaves us with more work to do. No idea why he didn’t get more time – he always looked good when came on” and “This would mean we need 2 back up full back signings.”
One fan commented: “Never understood why Farke isn’t keen on playing Schmidt. Every time he’s on the pitch, he’s looked tidy & like a useful player. Thought he would’ve been solid FB cover in EPL this szn. Hopefully he goes to Werder Bremen, has a great season, & returns to Leeds in 2026 #LUFC #MOT”
Of course, Leeds cannot go into the new campaign with just Gabriel Gudmundsson, Jayden Bogle, and Sam Byram as full-back options, even if Pascal Struijk and Sebastiaan Bornauw have some experience there as well.

Daniel Farke’s previous comments on Isaac Schmidt
Farke has previously discussed Schmidt’s game time with numerous Leeds fans frustrated for Schmidt and in agreement that he should be utilised more regularly, either on the wing or in a more natural role as an attacking full-back.
He is a wing-back in the right team but Farke has been impressed with what he’s seen, despite his lack of minutes. He said: “Every player wants to play, it’s tricky.
“It’s the toughest part of the job, especially with a player with a great character like Isaac. He’s doing well in training, but he had to tend with injuries and needed time to adapt.
“Found his feet, delivering in training. It hurts to leave him out but it is not a decision against him. Bogle is the league’s stand-out performer. Byram is unbeaten when starting. It’s tough; happy we have Isaac.”
