A left-sided defender is likely to be high on Leeds United’s shortlist this summer with cover required for Junior Firpo, and one player on the Elland Road radar has been told he can leave.
It has been widely reported that Leeds are in the market for three new signings before the August 30th deadline. A full-back to cover Firpo, a midfielder able to score from deep and a new left-sided winger.
Crysencio Summerville’s exit has left Leeds with just Wilfried Gnonto and Dan James as options out wide in attack. Leeds have been linked with Norwich City star Jonathan Rowe, but Monaco are now interested.
In defence, Leeds are said to have made a bid for Chelsea defender Bashir Humphreys. The “outstanding” defender is back at Stamford Bridge this summer after spending time out on loan at Swansea City.

The England U21 man is naturally a centre-back but given he is left-footed, could be used on the left side of the Leeds defence. Leeds do already have Max Wober and Pascal Struijk as left-footed centre-backs.
But Humphreys is being targeted and now, GOAL deliver an update. They say Chelsea are looking to raise £200m in sales before the end of the month and Humphreys is one of a number of players told he can go.
Enzo Maresca is in charge at Chelsea having taken over from Mauricio Pochettino, weeks after guiding Leicester City to the Championship title. He has decided to allow Humphreys to leave before the deadline.

Intriguingly, Humphreys is not a full-back and with Pascal Struijk starting for Leeds, it throws the spotlight onto Wober’s future. Gladbach sporting director Roland Virkus has hinted at a late move for Wober.
Wober and Brenden Aaronson have returned from loans but Aaronson has made a solid attempt to win fans back over. Wober is said to have even declined the opportunity to speak to media while in Germany.
Interest in Humphreys might be a sign that Wober still leaves Leeds this summer and former Elland Road star Palmer believes the Chelsea ace would be a good signing for Farke’s side, if they can do a deal.
“He’s a million miles from getting in the Chelsea first-team, so it’s the best solution. I think it would be a very very good signing, he had a superb season at Swansea, this would be a good addition to the squad.”
