Leeds United have signed Noah Okafor from AC Milan, but who is he?

The new Premier League season couldn’t have got off to a much better start for Leeds United as they picked up a 1-0 win against Everton.

However, the fact that they only took the lead thanks to Lukas Nmecha’s controversially awarded penalty, despite all their dominance, proves Leeds still need more attacking reinforcements.

Daniel Farke bemoaned his side’s lack of quality during pre-season and, after fixing issues in defence and midfield, the club are now moving to get some.

Striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has arrived on a free transfer and now forward Noah Okafor has joined him at Elland Road.

Noah Okafor to Leeds United transfer news

Okafor only emerged as a possible target for Leeds in mid-August, with the club missing out on other attacking targets like Igor Paixao and Ben Doak.

With Bologna also chasing the forward, Leeds moved quickly to get the deal done.

Leeds agreed a fee for Okafor, with the attacker agreeing to sign a contract until 2029 with the option of a further year.

Leeds only paid a bargain £13m up front for Okafor, but it could rise as high as £18m.

What position does Noah Okafor play?

Okafor is a versatile forward and is equally capable of leading the line or playing out on the left flank, with his career almost evenly split between the two positions.

He is likely being signed to operate on the left flank as Leeds are short on options in the position but the fact that he can also play upfront if needed will come in handy.

Noah Arinzechukwu Okafor was born in Binningen, Switzerland, on May 24, 2000. As of August 2025, he is 25 years old.

That’s right at the age bracket Farke has been targeting in the transfer window, as he wants experienced operators who have already competed at a high level to increase the quality of his squad immediately.

Okafor stands at 6’1″ tall, which is bigger than usual for a winger but doesn’t take away any of his lightning pace.

What Jesse Marsch said about Noah Okafor

Former Leeds boss Jesse Marsch signed Okafor as a replacement for Erling Haaland during his time in charge of Red Bull Salzburg.

After Okafor scored a hat-trick against WSG Tirol in 2020, Marsch said: “He’s always an option for the starting XI.

“He can play in many different positions. He can play on the offensive flanks or in the front line.

“I was very happy that he scored three goals. I think that’s good for Noah. We talked a lot with Noah about tactical things. And, in the end, we said, now is the time to show your skills and fight.”
