The EFL awards took place in London on Sunday night, as the Championship’s best celebrated a season in which Leeds United could finish top of the table – as long as they win their last two matches.
Dan James and Daniel Farke were both nominated for Player and Manager of the Year awards but neither won it, with Burnley boss Scott Parker and Sheffield United’s Gustavo Hamer taking home the gongs.
The Team of the Season was also picked, with Leeds trio James, Jayden Bogle and Ao Tanaka included in the team. Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon, Joel Piroe and Manor Solomon among those to be overlooked.
Ross McCormack was left stunned that Junior Firpo was omitted for Sheffield United’s Harrison Burrows. Surprisingly, two Norwich stars were included despite their poor season, in Borja Sainz and Josh Sargent.

Don Goodman thinks Norwich star would love Leeds United move
Leeds are keeping tabs on both Sainz and Sargent ahead of the summer window. Sainz currently sits in second when it comes to the goalscoring rankings, having sat ahead of Joel Piroe during the season.
The two players have chopped and changed at the top of the goalscoring rankings, but Piroe’s four in the 6-0 win over Stoke has seen him overtake nemesis Sainz by two goals going into the final two matches.
With Leeds interested in Sainz, Don Goodman has told FLW that Sainz would jump at the chance to join Leeds: “Having had such a stellar season, I’m pretty confident Sainz would want Premier League football.
“Or very high-end football in Europe. Obviously, Leeds United would offer Premier League football, so it would be a no-brainer if you ask me. If that is an option for Sainz, then why wouldn’t he take it?”

Do Leeds need untested Borja Sainz in Premier League scrap?
Next season, Leeds cannot carry any passengers. Farke’s men do not need players that require time to get used to the Premier League, they need to hit the ground running and garner as many points as possible.
Journalist Rory Smith made the point on Monday Night Club, saying Leeds need battle-hardened, proven Premier League players before suggesting a free transfer for Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure.
| Name | League Games | Minutes | Goals | Assists | Minutes per G+A |
| Joel Piroe | 44 | 2922 | 19 | 6 | 116.9 |
| Manor Solomon | 37 | 2427 | 9 | 11 | 121.4 |
| Dan James | 36 | 2620 | 12 | 9 | 124.8 |
| Borja Sainz | 40 | 3606 | 17 | 4 | 171.7 |
Sainz is not that. While he has had a good season at Norwich in the Championship, it should also be taken into account that he’s scored two Championship goals since November. He is not good enough.
