Leeds United will need to spend very sensibly this window, despite having a decent budget in the Premier League.

The Whites are looking to make a statement this transfer window, with £150m suggested in the budget.

However, it has recently come to the surface that this might not be entirely correct, with Leeds only having £100m.

Even then, this has been debated as just about ‘feasible’ with a structure needed from the 49ers this summer.

Well, after what Leeds fans are hearing about transfer target Joe Gomez, they may want to stay away.

The Liverpool centre-back is now seeming like an outcast in Arne Slot’s squad.

Daniel Farke could open the door to the Englishman at Elland Road, as there is no doubt his Premier League experience would come in handy.

This is the hope for the ownership with Premier League targets sought-after at Leeds, but there is a major problem with the deal.

Leeds fans have flocked over to X after hearing Gomez’s asking price, and they are certainly surprised.

Gomez would make for a solid purchase at Leeds

Although £25m might seem a bit steep for someone of Gomez’s stature, it actually wouldn’t be the worst deal in the world.

For a quarter of the £100m budget to be chucked onto a centre-back is a risk, but with centre-back a priority this summer, it might be worth it.

Gomez is 28, so he’s in the peak of his career, and along with that comes vast experience in the top flight.

Although injuries have been a burden for the defender with just nine appearances this season, the 23/24 campaign showed exactly why Farke should sign Gomez.

Leeds would be getting a centre-back with excellent passing and brilliant pace for a defender, not to mention his seven seasons of playing alongside Virgil van Dijk.

As mentioned though, injuries could be a key factor in why the 49ers might avoid for £25m, but there is also no harm in a loan deal, which the Whites might have to rely heavily on next campaign.
