Illan Meslier’s future at Leeds United is under the microscope after his dismal showing in the 3-3 draw against Hull City last Saturday, with reports suggesting he could even leave.
Meslier was arguably at fault for all three goals against Hull as Leeds failed to pick up three points despite scoring three second-half goals against Ruben Selles’ side, including Ao Tanaka’s first goal for the club.
Leeds remain at the top of the Championship but there is a feeling among supporters that Leeds are not going to be promoted automatically if they have to continue with Meslier between the Elland Road sticks.
Reports over the weekend said Leeds were open to offers for Meslier this month given his poor recent form and Daniel Farke has changed his mind on Meslier, having planned to replace him in the summer.

Stade Rennais wanted to sign Illan Meslier, but not anymore
Despite his poor form, Meslier not short of suitors. Ahead of January, it was claimed that Glen Kamara’s Rennes wanted Meslier and since then, both Arsenal and Man United have been linked with Meslier.
Graeme Bailey has told LeedsUnited.News that Meslier will leave if Leeds don’t get promoted. Bailey has told us that Meslier has eyes on the 2026 World Cup and only wants to join a side where he is the no.1.
At Arsenal or Manchester United, Meslier is not going to start and now Rennes are likely to have cooled their interest, too. That is because they have announced the £12.5m signing of goalkeeper Brice Samba.
Daniel Farke is not the only one to change mind on Meslier
With Farke previously planning to keep Meslier as his no.1 until the summer, it seems the draw against Hull has not only changed the Leeds’ boss mind. Fans are becoming impatient now want him gone.
Even if Leeds don’t manage to sell Meslier, the feeling is that it is “time for change”. Former Leeds striker Simon Johnson is desperate for Leeds to start someone else in goal, whether that’s a new signing or not.
Leeds take on Harrogate on Saturday and the chances are, Karl Darlow would have come into the line-up anyway. But it may just be the perfect time to start Darlow and keep him in against Sheffield Wednesday.
