The Leeds United player now set for Elland Road exit in the next 24 hours

Daniel Farke is expecting a quiet window but a lot of that could be down to whether he can keep his Leeds United squad together. However, one player is set to leave in the next 24 hours.

Six players have been linked with the exit door as things stand. Tottenham are interested in raiding Leeds again, this time for Pascal Struijk while Leeds will listen to bids for Illan Meslier after the draw at Hull City.

But Leeds have a small squad and if more than a couple of players leave, than Farke will have to go back on his comments and enter the January window for new additions to bolster Leeds’ push for promotion.

Burnley and Sheffield United are themselves, closing in on new signings and Leeds may need to react. But the first bit of business done by Leeds this month looks set to be a back-up player, leaving Leeds on loan.

Joe Gelhardt set to sign for Championship club in next 24 hours

Ahead of the January window, it was reported that Joe Gelhardt was keen on leaving Leeds in January. It is hardly surprising, given Gelhardt has been afforded just three appearances all season and one start.

On Saturday, he was on the bench against Hull but it was the first time in two months. He might have been involved against Harrogate on Saturday but it looks likely that now, Gelhardt will leave beforehand.

Adam Pope suggested Gelhardt’s exit would depend on Patrick Bamford overcoming a hamstring issue but Hull Daily Mail reporter Baz Cooper says Gelhardt could now sign for Hull City in the next 24 hours.

He reported on X: “Loads going on at Hull. [Matt] Crooks is done, expecting movement on Gelhardt and one, two or three others in the next day or so.”

Leeds may need to enter the January window for a striker

With Gelhardt on his way, Leeds will be reduced in the striker department to three options. Bamford is again injured, though his hamstring issue is not deemed to be a serious one ahead of Saturday’s clash.

Joel Piroe remains first choice after having a hand in 15 goals during the first half of the season while Mateo Joseph remains an exciting prospect. But if Leeds are to get promoted, another option is crucial.

Leeds have been linked with Hoffenheim’s Mergim Berisha, Aston Villa talent Louie Barry and Robbie Keane’s Maccabi Tel Aviv hitman Dor Turgeman. Whether Leeds actually move remains to be seen.
