Leeds United take on Everton in their opening Premier League game on Monday and here’s how their summer spending compares.
The moment we’ve all been waiting for is nearly here. Leeds United will soon compete in the Premier League once again.
Daniel Farke and his players will be forced to wait, though, as they will take on Everton at Elland Road after everyone else has competed, on Monday, August 18.

Aside from facing Sunderland or Burnley, Leeds couldn’t have had a much bigger relegation scrap to open the campaign with than against Everton, who have flirted with the drop for years.
It’s crucial Leeds get their season off to a strong start at home against a possible fellow relegation candidate, but how do the two teams’ summer spending compare?

Here’s every signing Leeds and Everton have made in the summer transfer window so far:
| Leeds United | Everton |
| Lukas Nmecha – Wolfsburg – Free | Charly Alcaraz – Flamengo – £12m |
| Jaka Bijol – Udinese – £15m | Thierno Barry – Villarreal – £27m |
| Sebastiaan Bornauw – Wolfsburg – £5.1m | Mark Travers – Bournemouth – £4m |

| Lucas Perri – Lyon – £13.9m (rising to £15.6m) | |
| Total: £73.4m (rising to £80.6m) | Total: £93m |
Leeds have enjoyed a busy and productive window, with seven new signings in through the door at a cost of £73.4m, rising to £80.6m, so far.
Farke has worked to strengthen the defensive side of his team ahead of a difficult season, while also increasing height, physicality and experience.
Crucial signings like new goalkeeper Lucas Perri and a replacement for Junior Firpo in Gabriel Gudmundsson have been sorted, as well as enhancing options in midfield and centre-back.
Everton, though, have spent around £20m more than Leeds despite only signing six new players so far.
It’s not clear what the exact loan fee is for Jack Grealish from Manchester City, but the total package, including fee and wages, is said to be £12m.
The signing of treble-winner Grealish is a marquee one that could give Everton the extra spark to actually climb up the table.
Making Charly Alvarez permanent, along with the additions of Thierno Barry – who got 19 goals for Villarreal last term – and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, have made Everton stronger.
Monday will be no easy game, and Leeds will be hoping for the Elland Road atmosphere to make a difference.
Will Everton or Leeds sign any more players before the opening fixture?
Leeds may have spent heavily, but they are not done yet.
Farke is desperate to now add attacking flair to his squad after publicly saying his side aren’t good enough going forward for the Premier League.
Leeds are targeting a striker, playmaker and winger to remedy the situation and have agreed a deal to sign free agent Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
If he’s signed in time this week, Calvert-Lewin could make his debut against Everton, the club he’s just left, on Monday.
Leeds are also chasing Bilal El Khannouss but that looks unlikely to be done in time.
After bringing in Grealish this week, Everton don’t appear close to any other signings yet.
