Leeds United’s focus in the window will now switch to sorting out the club’s attacking reinforcements having completed their work in defence and midfield.

Gabriel Gudmundsson has replaced Junior Firpo, Sebastiaan Bornauw has replaced Max Wober and Jaka Bijol fills the hole often left by Pascal Struijk’s injuries. That allows Ethan Ampadu to remain in midfield.

Leeds have replaced Joe Rothwell and Josuha Guilavogui with Sean Longstaff and Anton Stach. Not only a massive improvement on the departing duo, but Leeds now have five excellent options in the middle.

Now, focus is required up top. Manor Solomon has gone, Patrick Bamford has been told to go and Mateo Joseph wants to leave. Plenty of work to be done even with the addition of Lukas Nmecha on a free.

Leeds told to pay a bargain £8.75m for new Underwood target

With Bamford and Joseph leaving the club, Leeds would be left with Nmecha and Joel Piroe. There is a potential need for two strikers, one starting option and another as cover with Piroe and Nmecha versatile.

This week, Leeds have been linked with Inter Milan veteran Mehdi Taremi. The 33-year-old is set to leave Inter Milan after only one season with the Nerazzurri, where he had a hand in 12 goals in 43 matches.

Now, a report from Italian outlet FC Inter 1908 claim Inter Milan want an £8.75m fee for former Porto ace Taremi. They are keen to offload him and it is claimed that offers should arrive soon for the striker.

Mehdi Taremi rated his country’s best player by Iran assistant

While it might not be the most-impressive pool of players, Taremi is certainly one of the most-renowned names when it comes to the Iran side. Certainly, Taremi and Sardar Azmoun are well known in Europe.

Iran assistant Rahman Rezaei was quoted in 2024 as saying that Taremi is his country’s “strongest” player: “Mehdi is an excellent player, a true leader. In Iran, he’s considered the strongest, together with Azmoun.”

Whether Leeds manage to do a deal remains to be seen. Taremi is affordable, but other Premier League clubs are interested including Fulham and West Ham. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Besiktas are also interested.
