Bilal El Khannouss could be the attacking player that Leeds United need for the Premier League season.

Daniel Farke will want to rectify the fiasco with Igor Paixao after missing out on the Brazilian to Marseille.

El Khannouss has emerged as a possible candidate for Leeds, as the 21-year-old is looking very promising after one season in the top flight.

Leeds want to pay El Khannouss’ £24.5 million clause, but with the expiry of this figure now two weeks away, the Foxes might play hardball.

With August 15 being the deadline, the 49ers will have to work hard, but Leicester don’t seem to be budging on their ideal fee for the young Moroccan.

Leicester City want ‘north of £25m’ for Leeds United target Bilal El Khannouss

The Leicester star was a shining light in a dismal season for the Foxes, who suffered another relegation.

This is why interest is high in the young attacker, as Crystal Palace also want El Khannouss, but Marti Cifuentes’ side are remaining strong on what figure they are after.

Sky Sports journalist Zinny Boswell has reported that after the Whites made ‘enquiries’, the Championship side are only expected to take offers ‘north of £25 million’ for the Morocco international.

Even though the release clause is clear in the 21-year-old’s contract, as long as El Khannouss doesn’t make a decision by the middle of August, Leicester can stick with this demand.

However, as stated by Boswell, the East Midlands club do have to sell players on to make their own further signings, and they might not have the time to wait another two weeks, so Leeds could get their £24.5 million request.

Leeds United may have to follow Leicester City after possible Bilal El Khannouss signing

A fee in the region of the sum stated above would take Leeds’ overall spend past the £100 million mark this summer.

After the 49ers intended to spend £150 million, it’s clear that Paraag Marathe and co have certainly delivered.

But now the Peacocks might have to do what Leicester are planning with El Khannouss, as players need to be sold to balance out the books.

Marathe said sales at Leeds would happen, and currently, these options on the table give the Whites the biggest chance of gaining profit in the market.

Signing the Leicester midfielder seems like the owners’ priority now, but if the possible deal comes to fruition, Leeds must put the brakes on transfers until sales are made.

El Khannouss would make for an excellent purchase, but the Foxes have outlined what they want, and now it’s up to the Whites as to what they do next.
