A tough decision needs to be made at Leeds United as Willy Gnonto will be praying it goes his way.
It’s been a disappointing few days for Leeds fans, who expected to land Igor Paixao this summer.
Daniel Farke and the 49ers were working tirelessly to make it happen, with Lucas Perri even trying to convince Paixao to join.
Alas, it’s not meant to be, and the Whites will have to look elsewhere to search for their new winger.
But news coming out of Elland Road might suggest a big choice will be made ahead of the Premier League season.

How Leeds United feel about finding Igor Paixao alternative
After the overall structure of Farke’s squad is complete, the attack is obviously where the Peacocks will be drawn to next.
It’s certainly a loss to miss out on the Brazilian who would have made for a serious upgrade in the Whites’ front line.
Although there are alternatives out there, such as Leeds target Riccardo Sottil, the hierarchy are struggling to find the right candidate.
That’s according to The Athletic, which suggests that the club’s key ‘decision-makers’ don’t think there are many other options available to them.
Leeds are not expecting it to be easy to find another player like Paixao, who seems to be one of a kind in terms of his qualities.
They liked everything about him, which included his ability to create his own chances, his age, his experience, his resale potential, his finishing, and his set-piece deliveries.
Judging by this, Gnonto will be buzzing with what could come next at Elland Road.

Willy Gnonto might get a starting chance at Leeds United
From this news, it’s become clearer that Leeds might not actually end up signing a winger this summer.
It seems like the 49ers put all their eggs in Paixao’s basket as the former Feyenoord winger seemed destined to become a Whites player.
Nevertheless, Gnonto will be delighted at the potential opportunity that could be presented to him.
The Italian has been in and out of Farke’s plans, but this campaign could be his time to shine, and Gnonto can be Leeds’ secret weapon after a promising start in pre-season.
| Minutes played | 45 |
| Pass accuracy % | 83% |
| Dribble success % | 100% |
| Duels won | 4/5 |
| Fouls won | 1 |
After still playing a role last campaign, it was all about easing the 21-year-old back into the starting lineup.
Not long ago, Gnonto tried to force a Leeds exit, but now it seems he couldn’t be happier, and this potential choice from the board will make him even more excited for the season ahead.
Where he will play is the only other question, but with Dan James looking ‘rusty’, the Italy under-21 international could have the chance to impress from the off.
