Leeds United might have to look for some rogue signings this summer to fend off competition from their main targets.

Many areas of Daniel Farke’s squad need improvement, but the Whites have probably found out firsthand how brutal the window is when in the Premier League.

This is due to the number of clubs that look to compete for the same signing, as Angus Kinnear’s Everton are proving to be a nuisance to the 49ers’ plans.

Gustavo Hamer is one Everton want, and Leeds clearly see Hamer as a key target this window, with the Dutchman likely to leave Sheffield United.

But now the 49ers might have found their own target without any obstacles.

Leeds United targeting Angers midfielder Himad Abdelli

The ownership will need to think outside the box to land signings, and one name who has cropped up is Angers midfielder Himad Abdelli.

Abdelli is the captain of the Ligue 1 side, guiding them to a solid 14th-place finish in France.

Ouest France reports that Abdelli is currently out with an injury, but is attracting interest from Leeds.

This wouldn’t be the only star Farke will be targeting from Angers this summer, as goalkeeper Yahia Fofana is also on Leeds’ radar.

The Algerian seems to have really impressed during his three-season spell with Angers and brings reason why the Whites want his signature, but the 49ers will have to move quickly before other interest arises, especially with a very impressive statistic.

Leeds target Abdelli is on par with Liverpool-bound Florian Wirtz

With Leeds needing different midfield options in the top flight, Abdelli provides many traits.

Being a captain, his leadership skills will come in handy as they will help Leeds during what is set to be a challenging campaign, with a relegation battle likely.

But Abdelli’s on-field presence speaks for itself and has proven his worth in Angers’ side yet again this season.

A central midfielder is a ‘priority’ for Leeds, and with Farke expressing his tactical brilliance in an attacking sense last season, Abdelli could be perfect for what he needs in the Premier League.

This is due to his progressive ball carries, as the 25-year-old is up there with the very best in Europe, even matching Liverpool-bound Florian Wirtz.

This should be more than enough for the 49ers to progress a deal for Abdelli, who at 25 is looking like the real deal.

The interest is only minimal at the moment, but signing Abdelli could be the ideal under-the-radar transfer Farke needs.
