Leeds United have already been linked with a mountain of new players having gained promotion to the Premier League, but one player is now seemingly off limits – according to his club president.

Promotion has been secured by Daniel Farke’s men and next up on Saturday, is Leeds looking to secure the Championship title. A win against Plymouth will do the job, enough to see of Burnley’s challenge.

But come the summer, plenty of work will have to be done on improving the squad and it’s depth to build a squad capable of avoiding Premier League relegation. Just ask Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton.

The 49ers want six major signings this summer. One of those will be a goalkeeper, another centre-back, a left-back, a midfielder, a winger – possibly Manor Solomon – and a striker. A no.10 is also likely required.

Leeds United want to sign Steaua Bucharest’s Joyskim Dawa

One player that has been linked with a move is Cameroon international, Joyskim Dawa. The France-born star has sparkled at FCSB – or, Steaua Bucharest – over the last three years, clocking up 145 appearances.

Leeds are interested in Dawa with a fee of £3m required to sign the 6ft 4in giant. Especially, after Dawa’s form in the Europa League in which he starred and captained on occasion, his side to the round of 16.

Now 29, Leeds and Ligue 1 side Stade Reims are supposedly interested in signing Dawa this summer. But, those plans may have now been shelved after FCSB’s club president declared his plans for his centre-back.

Gigi Becali rules out a summer sale for defender Joyskim Dawa

Despite the chance to move to one of Europe’s top-five leagues which will surely interest Dawa ahead of the summer window, the big centre-back’s chances of a move to Leeds or Reims have been ruled out.

Speaking to Romanian side Digi Sport, FCSB president Gigi Becali he won’t let Dawa leave this summer: “We’re keeping Dawa, he’s our player, a valuable player, but we need to get a central defender for now.”

Leeds will need centre-backs this summer. Even if Ethan Ampadu is converted into a centre-back in the long-term, Leeds still need another option with Max Wober expected to depart Elland Road this summer.
