The January transfer window might have come to a close but there are some Leeds United players that could still leave the club on loan – and one is heading to his old club.

In the end, Leeds failed to make any signings in the January window despite Daniel Farke saying he wants three new additions. Instead, Leeds allowed three to leave in Joe Gelhardt, Charlie Crew and Luca Thomas.

Off went the trio to Championship side Hull City, League Two outfit Doncaster Rovers who take on Crystal Palace in the FA Cup on Monday night and then National League side Halifax for young striker Thomas.

But that might not be the last of the loan exits even with the window closed. Those in non-league can still bring in players on loan. An in-form member of Scott Gardner’s U21 side has returned to his old side.

Goalscoring midfielder rejoins National League North side

Ireland U19 international Cian Coleman is in the final year of his contract at Leeds, and is clearly aware that he needs to put himself in the shop window now he’s no longer a teenager and unlikely to break in.

Coleman went on loan to Buxton in October and had a hand in six goals during 12 appearances before returning in January. Midfielder Coleman even scored a hat-trick during a 3-2 win away at Scunthorpe.

Winning Buxton’s October Player of the Month award, Coleman returned to Leeds in January and netted two goals in three Premier League 2 games. Now, Coleman has decided to return to NLS side Buxton.

Given his form at Buxton in the sixth tier, it was expected that Coleman would join a club in a division or two higher up the football pyramid. LeedsUnited.News even suggested Daniel Farke might take a look.

Especially, after Leeds failed to sign an attacking midfielder. But instead, Coleman is heading back on loan to Buxton to work under John McGrath and continue his rise in a side where he knows he is well-liked.

The Evening Post say that clubs higher up the pyramid did take a look at Coleman but it is the player’s decision to return to Buxton on loan, which could be until the end of the current season.
