Leeds United are expected to enter the transfer window to sign a no.10 before Monday’s deadline having been linked with the likes of Emi Buendia and Julio Enciso.

But Paraguay star Julio Enciso chose to join Ipswich over Leeds, while Argentina international Buendia has opted to go on loan at Bayer Leverkusen. Leeds denied in their initial attempts to bring in a new no.10.

Daniel Farke made it clear he wants a new no.10, with Brenden Aaronson the club’s only natural option in the 10 role. The United States international has started 27 league games in a row for the Yorkshire side.

That is despite his inconsistent form, only managing to have a hand in nine goals. Between now and the deadline on February 3, Leeds will try to sign a new no.10 but The Whites may already have the answer.

Cian Coleman continues stunning form for Leeds United U21’s

Now 20 years of age, Ireland U19 international Cian Coleman is ready for first-team football. The talent has proved as much on loan at Buxton during the first half of the season, albeit in National League North.

He had a hand in six goals in 12 games, Coleman winning Buxton’s October Player of the Month after a hat-trick in a 3-2 win over Scunthorpe United. Coleman has since returned to Leeds after his loan spell.

He’s since played three times for Leeds U21 side, scoring in each game. A goal in games against Premier League 2 sides Everton and West Ham, also netting in a National League Cup game against Tamworth.

Coleman form cannot go unnoticed by Daniel Farke at Leeds

Coleman has benefitted tremendously from playing senior football even if it is a lowly level and now back at Elland Road, with the senior side lacking an attacking midfielder, Coleman should be considered.

At least, included in senior training especially given he is 20 years of age and now knows what it is like to play senior football. Versatile, Coleman can also drop into central midfield as well as playing as a no.10.

Leeds need cover for Aaronson and while the club are expected to continue to scour the market for new additions, maybe the answer is at Thorp Arch all along in the Irishman – it could save Leeds some cash.
