Leeds United have shown they’re not afraid to spend money this summer, having enjoyed a really fruitful last week in the summer transfer window.

Leeds United’s summer transfer window looked like a bit of a slow-burner at first. But it’s since burst into life with Leeds United completing the signing of Lukas Nmecha before agreeing a deal to sign Jaka Bijol.

It’s reported that Leeds United are paying £19million to sign Bijol from Udinese. And it looks like the first marquee signing of many that Daniel Farke is poised to make this summer, with Leeds having a £150million transfer budget for new signings.

More and more names continue to be linked at Elland Road and some of them could command huge fees. But the 49ers aren’t backing down, with Leeds United having had a £32million bid for Rodrigo Muniz rejected already this summer.

Another name that the Whites could spend big on is Bologna and Colombia centre-back Jhon Lucumi, though Farke is facing increasing competition for this potential transfer.

Jhon Lucumi to Leeds United latest as Bologna release clause revealed

Lucumi has been linked with a move to Leeds United after his impressive 2024/25 season with Bologna, which saw them beat Milan in the Coppa Italia final in May.

But it’s long been thought that a move for the 26-year-old Colombian international will prove costly, with previous reports that Bologna wanted up to £33million to sell Lucumi this summer.

However, fresh claims have emerged. Lucumi actually has a release clause at the Serie A club worth €28million (£23.9million). But there’s a couple of caveats: the clause is only active until July 15th, according to Gianluca DiMarzio, whilst journalist Nicolo Schira has gone on to reveal that Galatasaray and Roma are interested in Lucumi, along with Leeds United’s Premier League rivals Aston Villa and Bournemouth.

Daniel Farke has a bigger transfer priority after signing Jaka Bijol

It’s expected that Bijol’s move to Leeds United will be confirmed soon. It certainly plugs a gap in the side and whilst another centre-back looks likely to be signed at some point in the summer, Farke arguably has a much bigger priority.

Leeds are desperately in need of a left-back after seeing Real Betis agree a deal to sign Junior Firpo on a free transfer, with ongoing uncertainty over whether or not Sam Byram stays at the club beyond this summer too.

It’s reported that Leeds United want to keep Byram for next season but that the defender is yet to make up his mind.

Leeds United are linked with several left-backs right now but none seem all that close to joining the club, with Farke having put in bids for the likes of Muniz and Habib Diarra in the last weeks.
