Daniel Farke will be preparing to welcome his second summer signing in Jaka Bijol.
The Slovenian centre-back is set to put pen to paper for the Whites as the 49ers aren’t messing about.
Fabrizio Romano gave the ‘here we go’ for Bijol’s transfer as his arrival at Thorp Arch is expected very soon.
The £18.7m fee seems very good value for money on Leeds’ side of things, as the 26-year-old is meant to be a major coup for the Whites.
However, there was one request Bijol had, which was fairly unusual before deciding to agree to the 49ers’ proposal.

Jaka Bijol’s unusual request before agreeing to Leeds United move
Bijol is expected to be an excellent signing as the centre-back is known for his large presence at the back.
Bijol almost matches Virgil van Dijk in terms of Aerial duels won, and Leeds have a proper defender on their hands.
If Farke gets it right, the Slovenian and Joe Rodon could prove to be a revelation in keeping the Whites in the Premier League.
But before Bijol even agreed to make the jump to Yorkshire, the defender had one last request.
Journalist Sacha Tavolieri was told that Bijol wanted to wait until after his wedding before completing a move to the Premier League.
Adding to this, Udinese were ‘tentative’ to improve the overall price of the deal, but Bijol made it clear he wanted the move done quickly.
Pascal Struijk must be worried with Bijol through the door at Leeds
With more competition added for Leeds, Pascal Struijk is definitely someone who can suffer from this transfer.
Struijk will be concerned for his starting spot with Bijol coming through the door, as the Slovenian joining for such a commanding fee will surely have priority.
Adding to this, it’s already been confirmed that Rodon is a starter for Farke next season, so the fingers point to the Dutchman.
But to make matters worse, when you compare the two from their time in one of the top five European leagues, it gets much worse for Struijk’s future at Leeds.
| Jaka Bijol in 24/25 Serie A season | Pascal Struijk in 22/23 Premier League season | |
| Games played | 34 | 29 |
| Pass accuracy % | 83.8% | 79.5% |
| Aerial duels won | 110 | 60 |
| Aerial duels won % | 67.1% | 58.3% |
| Duels won | 162 | 165 |
With Bijol looking like the superior option, Struijk’s injury record won’t do him any favours, and it’s become clear the 25-year-old will have to work extra hard next campaign.
