With Lukas Nmecha’s signature dotted on the line, Jaka Bijol will now have the attention turned to him at Leeds United.

The hope around Leeds is that Bijol is the second signing through the door at Elland Road this summer.

It’s been claimed to LeedsUnited.News that a £15m fee will be enough for Bijol’s transfer as Udinese and the Whites remain in talks.

However, Newcastle United also want Bijol, which provides a threat to Daniel Farke’s pursuit this window.

With the Toon Army also admirers, it’s clear Leeds need to sign the Slovenian, and a statistic has emerged which adds to that claim.

Impressive Jaka Bijol statistic speaks volumes to Leeds United

The centre-back is a sought-after candidate this window, with Leeds still currently at the forefront of things.

It’s said that Bijol has agreed terms with Leeds, and this move is edging closer despite outside doubters.

Well, to get fans even more excited about this deal, Opta Editor Jamie Kemp has shared a very exciting graphic.

The analyst has taken into account the last three seasons in Europe’s big five leagues, and it’s seen that only four centre-backs have won a higher percentage of their aerial duels than Bijol, just being eclipsed by the likes of Virgil van Dijk. What a machine.

Special Bijol trait can keep Leeds in the Premier League

It’s an underrated trait, but having a centre-back who wins these aerial duels gives a high likelihood of a strong season.

Leeds will need to be defensively solid next campaign, and this is what Troy Deeney believes will keep Burnley up, and Farke will know he has to slightly alter his approach.

Joe Rodon already provided an excellent force in Farke’s defence, and adding Bijol will only improve that dramatically.

His numbers are impressive, and when you compete with the likes of van Dijk, you know the 49ers could be landing a gem.

More to the fact though, is that the best strikers are physical in the air like Erling Haaland, Alexander Isak, and Bijol, can put a stop to giving them any chance, meaning fewer crosses conceded from Leeds’ point of view.

This can help Leeds not let games get away from them and will be extremely useful in keeping them in the top flight.
