Leeds United are yet to make any signings of their own but after a couple of loan exits, Daniel Farke’s side are about to sanction their first permanent exit in the form of a striker.

Daniel Farke predicted a quiet window for Leeds at the beginning of the transfer window. But according to reports, that is beginning to change with new targets emerging and Farke hinting at new additions.

After the draw at Burnley, Farke suggested there may be updates on his phone having not checked it for six hours with Burnley taking priority. Meanwhile, Leeds have already allowed two players to go on loan.

They come in the form of Joe Gelhardt who has already scored a 25-yard rocket and helped Hull beat Sheffield United in his first three games, while Wales international Charlie Crew has joined Doncaster.

Leeds United agree permanent exit for Sonny Perkins

Back in the summer, Leeds allowed five others to leave on loan. Among them was striker Sonny Perkins, who has struggled for game time since Farke’s arrival. He returned to boyhood club Leyton Orient.

The 20-year-old striker has had a hand in 10 goals in 29 games for Leyton Orient and manager Richie Wellens confirmed intent to sign Perkins permanently. Now, an update from The Athletic’s Beren Cross.

He confirms that Leeds have sanctioned the permanent exit of Perkins to Leyton Orient. Cross reports Orient have agreed to pay a small fee, but will include a ‘sizeable’ sell-on clause that will see Leeds profit.

Leyton Orient move is just what Perkins needs to kickstart career

Coming through at West Ham after joining the Hammers from Orient, Perkins was touted as a big talent. Indeed, he made three senior appearances for them before his move to Leeds, where he managed five.

He did score for Leeds, netting a late equaliser under Jesse Marsch in an FA Cup game against Cardiff. But he has failed to live up to expectation, even after Arsenal’s Declan Rice predicted a big future for Perkins.

Perkins has proper potential but needed the right stage to express it. That was neither at West Ham or Leeds, but at Leyton Orient, he has the chance to go and shine and finally heed Rice’s big prediction.
