Leeds United continue to be linked with plenty of new players with less than two weeks left to go in the January transfer window, and one is currently at a direct promotion rival.
Going into the window, Daniel Farke made it clear that Leeds are expecting a quiet window. But, Leeds are reported to be eyeing four arrivals, with Leeds needing a centre-back, a full-back, midfielder and a striker.
Emi Buendia feels like the one Leeds want the most, with Graeme Bailey telling LeedsUnited.News there is a definite interest to reunite Farke with his old Norwich ace Buendia. But he started for Villa last night.
Elsewhere, Leeds have been linked with plenty of central defenders following Pascal Struijk’s injury. With Sheffield United eyeing Michael Keane, it could give Leeds a free run at Forest’s Andrew Omobamidele.
Burnley desperate to get rid of player on Leeds United radar
Earlier this month, it came as a surprise when Leeds were linked with Burnley’s Mike Tresor. The Belgian has endured a dismal time of it at Burnley after initially joining The Clarets on loan in the summer of 2023.
Despite relegation, both parties were forced into a £16m obligation last summer but Tresor failed to play a single game before the turn of the year. But he got 30 minutes in Burnley’s FA Cup win over Reading.
Scott Parker said he had no idea if Tresor would stay at Burnley in January but now, Voetbal Nieuws give an update. They say Burnley are trying to ‘offload’ Tresor before the deadline on February 3.
They list four clubs showing interest in the two-time Belgian, who boasts the record of most assists in a season in Belgium, with 24 during 2022-23. Leeds, Ajax, Gent and Anderlecht all want to land the winger.

Genoa are also keen on signing Tresor, with Patrick Vieira looking to bolster his side in an attempt to stave off the threat of relegation. It is not the first time Genoa and Leeds have shared a rumour mill page.
Indeed, Genoa were linked with signing Patrick Bamford going into the January window. But those links have not exceeded the preliminary stage and Bamford is out injured until the end of the current month.
Whether Leeds do try to sign Tresor remains to be seen, given the wide positions are probably Leeds’ strongest area. But Tresor’s creativity does allow him to play as a 10 and it could tempt Leeds to bid.
