Leeds United will have been left disappointed by Igor Paixao agreeing to join Marseille this transfer window.

The Brazilian was the main target Leeds were going for as a winger this summer, but unfortunately, Paixao chose to join Marseille instead.

A frustrating scenario for the Whites leaves fans scratching their heads as to where the 49ers will go next.

Leeds have opened talks with Riccardo Sottil, who could be the ideal candidate to replace the 25-year-old and join Daniel Farke’s squad.

But the Peacocks faithful have gone one step further and have suggested a name no one expected.

Leeds United fans want Jack Grealish after Igor Paixao transfer fiasco

Paixao would have made for an astute piece of business as the winger got glowing reviews from Feyenoord.

Nevertheless, the time for Leeds to move on is now, and fans have plucked out Jack Grealish as someone they can go for.

Grealish almost helped Leeds sign Manor Solomon, but now that the Tottenham winger is staying, the Whites faithful have presented the idea of the Man City player joining instead over on X.

One Leeds fan said: “I’d take him in a heartbeat. He’d be a great creative 10,” while another suggested: “Been banging this drum for a while. If he can de-Pep and get back to ‘Villa Grealish’ he’d be a great signing.”

With Solomon no longer joining Farke’s squad permanently, one fan was quick to claim: “I think he would be a perfect upgrade on Solomon,” which was followed up by a stumbling block the Whites could have: “I’ve called for this previously. He’d be a great fit – always has a laugh with our fans too. Wages may be a massive issue though.”

Another fan claimed he’s been wanting Grealish for a long time, saying: “I been tweeting all about this for two years now people say wages are a problem but if they offered him for sale for 20 million clubs would be queuing up so two years wages and a loan would be far less,” this was agreed on suggesting he would be a hit with the fans: “Would love to see it. He’d be proper Leeds too.”

Grealish is on the market this summer, with Man City looking to offload the 29-year-old on a potential loan, so it does provide Leeds with an option, which is an option Angus Kinnear won’t like.

Former Leeds United CEO Angus Kinnear wants Jack Grealish for Everton

Leeds had a successful period with Kinnear as CEO, with the former Whites chief having a solid eight years at Elland Road.

Now, though, he is leading transfers for Everton as he becomes Leeds’ rival with a lot at stake in the Premier League opener.

Within his plans at the Toffees, though, is Grealish himself, so Kinnear wouldn’t be too pleased if he saw these suggestions from fans.

But now might be the chance for the Whites to get their own back after Everton have spoiled Leeds’ transfer plans on more than one occasion this summer.

The idea of the England international moving to Yorkshire would be an intriguing one, as on his day, Grealish is one of the best.

Injuries have played their part in providing a roadblock for the 29-year-old in recent seasons, but Farke signing the winger on a loan deal would be good business, judging by his true quality.

Kinnear wouldn’t agree, and who knows if the 49ers might take a chance on the City star.
