Another day, another new striker is linked with a move to Leeds United. The Whites could field an entire 11 of strikers that have been linked with a move to Elland Road since promotion was secured.
Clearly, Adam Underwood and The 49ers feel a new striker is a priority this summer. Leeds have identified four positions they want to spend big on this summer with a transfer kitty of £150m set to be spent.
Just recently, Leeds have informed AZ Alkmaar they won’t pay £25m for Troy Parrott. Nikola Krstovic is a target after his heroics with Lecce, while Promise David scored a brace to help USG win the Belgian title.
They are three names playing abroad currently, while here in England, Newcastle’s Callum Wilson, Beto at Everton and Leicester’s departing hero Jamie Vardy have been linked. Now, Hamburg’s Davie Selke.

Leeds United fans excited by potential move for Davie Selke
A household name in German football and a Football Manager legend, 30-year-old Selke has just played a pivotal role in Hamburg’s return to the top flight. The 6ft 5in striker scored 23 goals in 33 appearances.
But with his contract expiring on June 30, clubs are interested. Leeds have made ‘direct contact’ to sign Selke, while his old side and fellow RedBull club Leipzig are on pole. West Ham and Fulham are keen, too.
Upon hearing the news, Leeds fans are excited that the club are pursuing a deal to sign Selke given his excellent form during 2024-25 – even if it was only in the second tier of German football for Hamburg.
One Leeds fan described Selke as the “German Chris Wood” and believe Leeds have taken a look at the “Forest model”. A pragmatic approach, in which Forest have gone more direct and played with physicality.
Another took to X to say that Selke “looks good from a set-piece”, an issue for Leeds over the years. One who clearly knows all about Selke said “I love this guy” and predicted him to become a “fan favourite”.
Leeds have not had a target man for years and one fan said he “likes the sound of a 6ft 5in striker”. He went on to say that a striker with a “bit of experience” could really benefit Leeds in the final third.

Daniel Farke likes using 2. Bundesliga as a scouting pool…
It worked pretty well the last time Leeds made a signing from Germany’s second tier. At just £3.4m, Ao Tanaka has proven to be one of Leeds’ best-ever signings this century, already becoming a favourite.
He’s not the only player Leeds have tried to sign from that division. Dejan Ljubicic of Koln was strongly linked before Tanaka’s arrival and Ilia Gruev has played in both the Bundesliga, and the league below.
Uncapped with Germany’s senior side but boasting 15 U21 Germany caps, Selke has played a huge 236 times in the Bundesliga and had a hand in 66 goals. If Leeds need a plan B, Selke is a very good option.
