Leeds United are locked in talks to sign Norwich City gem Jonathan Rowe after an initial bid of just £7m but it is claimed that Leeds already have a back-up option if they cannot sign Rowe.
Rowe, 21, starred for Norwich last term. Especially, at the beginning of the campaign in which Rowe went on a brilliant goalscoring run and that has attracted the interest of former Norwich boss Daniel Farke.
England U21 star Rowe is said to be the subject of an initial £7m offer from Leeds, though that fee is said to be some way apart from Norwich’s valuation. A second bid is likely to be on the way from The Whites.
However, a deal is expected to be a difficult one to with Leeds aware it will not be ‘straightforward’. Leeds are prepared for that and have identified a back-up option in case they cannot agree a fee with Norwich.
Leeds eye ‘magical’ Premier League winger as back-up for Rowe
It is unclear what Norwich’s valuation of Rowe is and having sold Gabriel Sara to Galatasaray for a fee north of £20m, the Canaries are no longer under any pressure to sell a big name in the coming weeks.
The Sun’s Alan Nixon reports that Leeds will enter the market for Crystal Palace wide man Jesurun Rak-Sakyi if they are unable to sign Rowe. Leeds have been strongly linked with a move for Palace’s no.49.
He posted on X that if Leeds cannot get Rowe, then they will go in for Rak-Sakyi: “Sheff U still trying [to sign Rak-Sakyi]. Hull likewise. Leeds may come in if they miss [out on] Rowe. This is a live one.”
But so have other Championship clubs. It is claimed 18 of the 24 second-tier sides are interested, with a handful now ‘on alert’ after Palace rejected Southampton’s bids for Rak-Sakyi and Leeds are named.
Dean Henderson wants Jesurun Rak-Sakyi to join Sheffield United

QPR have made a big play for Rak-Sakyi this week, too. But you would imagine that if the Blades or Leeds became serious about Rak-Sakyi, then he would be foolish to turn down a move to either Yorkshire side.
