Leeds United are seemingly stepping up their recruitment drive ahead of Saturday’s opener against Portsmouth, as they look to spent the cash received from the sale of Crysencio Summerville.
The Whites have already made four signings, but one of those is a player unlikely to play for Leeds in third-choice goalkeeper Alex Cairns. The other is Joe Rodon, simply a permanent deal after his loan spell.
Only two signings have been made that will actually improve Leeds, given Rodon was at Elland Road last season. They are Joe Rothwell and Jayden Bogle, while Max Wober and Brenden Aaronson have returned.
Leeds need a new full-back given there are only three options for both sides of the defence. Another midfielder too, after losing Archie Gray and Glen Kamara, plus a replacement for West Ham’s Summerville.

One player Leeds are trying to sign is Norwich City’s England U21 star Jonathan Rowe. The versatile gem scored 12 Championship goals last season, and faced Leeds four times including the play-off semi-finals.
Leeds are planning an initial £7m bid for the “unstoppable” star but it is likely to be rejected. Talks are ongoing for Rowe, who has described himself as being in “awe” of the Elland Road crowd in the past.
A new report from The Athletic state that Leeds are aware that it will be a difficult deal to do and will not be ‘straightforward’. However, Leeds are going to try and land the Norwich academy product anyway.

LeedsUnited.News spoke to transfer expert Graeme Bailey regarding the situation with Rowe, and he says that Leeds are keen to do a deal for below £10m to sign the Norwich ace in the coming days and weeks.
What is surprising, is that Bailey says Norwich are open to doing a deal for Rowe. Whether they are ready to accept less than £10m remains to be seen, but perhaps a deal between £10m and £12m could work.
