Leeds United are now ‘unlikely’ to sign £12m player despite claims 49ers have ‘agreed terms’

Leeds United’s pursuit of a new winger is not reportedly as advanced as suggested earlier this week.

Winger is one of three positions Leeds are still looking to strengthen before the end of the window, with central midfield and full-back also on the radar.

A replacement for Crysencio Summerville is arguably the most important piece of business Leeds will do in the next three weeks, something which Daniel Farke thinks is almost impossible.

Summerville’s tally of 31 goal contributions across all competitions earned him a move to West Ham United last weekend, and so Leeds have ramped up the search for his replacement in recent days.

Norwich City’s Jonathan Rowe and Crystal Palace’s Jesurun Rak-Sakyi are Leeds’ top two targets if reports are to be believed.

Fresh twist in Leeds’ pursuit of Jesurun Rak-Sakyi

Leeds appear to be in a bit of an uphill battle for both Rowe and Rak-Sakyi right now due to the level of interest from other clubs.

Marseille submitted a formal offer for Rowe on Friday night and so clearly they are set to provide Leeds with some serious competition for the 21-year-old.

It is important Leeds do not put all their eggs in Rowe’s basket and reports earlier this week indicated the Whites were one of three clubs to have agreed terms with Crystal Palace for Rak-Sakyi.

The Yorkshire Evening Post have provided a fresh twist to the Rak-Sakyi race, though, by suggesting that is not actually the case.

Instead, it is said a move to Elland Road is ‘unlikely’ at this stage for Rak-Sakyi as they can not offer him guaranteed minutes from the get-go due to the options already in the squad.

Sheffield United have been reported to be the front-runners over the last few days and it would not be a surprise if that is where he ends up, despite Southampton’s willingness to pay £12 million for a permanent deal.

Leeds to miss out on another Premier League loan

Rak-Sakyi does not appear to be the only Premier League loan Leeds will miss out on, again due to their failure to guarantee game time.

Leeds had been interested in Wolverhampton Wanderers left-back Hugo Bueno but he will not be moving to Elland Road.

That is because Bueno is on his way to Feyenoord, who have pipped both Leeds and Celtic to a season-long-loan deal by agreeing terms with Wolves.

With Junior Firpo very much Leeds’ first choice left-back, Wolves sending Bueno to West Yorkshire for his development always seemed unlikely.
