Leeds United are now ‘open’ to selling key first team player from last season, club are in talks

Leeds United’s stance on the future of one of their key players from last season has now been revealed.

While the Whites have insisted since the sale of Archie Gray that all exits will now be done on their terms, they are ‘open’ to selling another member of Daniel Farke‘s squad.

Leeds are currently in talks with a number of clubs over potential deals for some of their players following official confirmation of Glen Kamara’s move to Rennes on Tuesday.

Rasmus Kristensen looks like he could be the next one out of the door, with a ‘verbal agreement’ on personal terms with Eintracht Frankfurt close. The two clubs are now working to finalise a deal.

Wilfried Gnonto, Junior Firpo and Crysencio Summerville have also been linked with new clubs in the last 48 hours, the latter of which could be joining Kamara at Rennes.

Leeds’ stance on Firpo future revealed

Leeds will be eager not to lose too many of their key players this summer to avoid leaving themselves with too much to do in terms of incomings.

It would also mean Leeds go into the new season with a lack of continuity in their starting XI, which could once again lead to a slow start.

However, according to Team Talk, Leeds have reportedly made their stance clear on Firpo‘s future behind-the-scenes.

It is said that Leeds would actually be ‘open’ to letting him leave this summer as a result of his current contract situation at Elland Road.

Firpo has less than 12 months remaining on his current deal, and at this stage, it would appear Leeds have no intention of offering him a new one, despite becoming a key player in the second half of last season, with eight assists in 33 appearances.

That means this summer is effectively Leeds’ last chance to recoup a fee for the 27-year-old, with his former club Real Betis reported to have started talks.

What is Firpo’s stance on a Leeds exit this summer?

Firpo’s stance on his future appears to marry up with that of Leeds, in that he is keen to return to Real Betis.

According to reports from Spain, Firpo is ‘willing to make an effort’ to ensure the deal gets over the line.

Firpo is on a big salary at Leeds and transfer expert Graeme Bailey exclusively told LeedsUnited.News earlier this month that it could prove to be a stumbling block to an exit.

With that in mind, it would not be a surprise if Firpo was happy to take a wage cut in order to secure his move back to Betis, reuniting with former Leeds teammates Marc Roca and Diego Llorente.
