Leeds United have shown a serious interest in Louie Barry this January as Daniel Farke is assessing the striker’s future at Aston Villa.

Recent reports have suggested that Aston Villa are ready to sell Louie Barry as both Leeds United and Sheffield United remain interested in acquiring the 21-year-old’s services.

Plenty of options have been linked to the Whites, as Leeds are seemingly hoping to bolster the squad, despite Daniel Farke stating he doesn’t expect much activity for Leeds.

Barry has been the main name circulating around Elland Road with the striker revealing where he would like to see his future.

Louie Barry wants Aston Villa chance amid Leeds and Sheffield links

Despite Leeds and Sheffield United’s interest, the young striker is hoping to stake his claim in the Aston Villa squad.

Barry will be hoping to break into the Villa team after being recalled from a loan spell with Stockport County according to the DailyMail, with this news coming disappointingly for Leeds supporters.

Villa boss, Unai Emery has suggested Barry should be playing at a higher level, as Villa are making the next decision on the 21-year-old’s future.

After 15 goals in 23 games during his League One spell this season, only Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland come above Barry in goals when it comes to the top four divisions in England.

Leeds United should double down on Louie Barry interest

With many factors considered, it doesn’t come as too much of a surprise that Barry is fighting for his place at his parent club after such a brilliant couple of seasons at Stockport.

However, When looking at Villa’s squad, Barry would have to seriously impress to be considered by Emery, as Jhon Duran and Ollie Watkins look irreplaceable in the Spaniard’s side.

With this considered, Leeds should take the opportunity to heighten their interest in the youngster to improve their form after dropping points in the Championship title race.

Joel Piroe has impressed this season and Mateo Joseph has shown glimpses, but competition could be healthy at this stage of the campaign, and after Barry’s form in League One, it almost seems like a no-brainer.
