Leeds want to sign ‘very exciting’ player seen as one of the most promising talents in Germany

Leeds United still have plenty of work to do between now and the end of the season but plans are already being put in place for the summer window.

Those behind-the-scenes have two eventualities in which they will have to prepare for with it still up in the air which division Leeds will be playing in next season.

Either way, Leeds will be in for another busy summer, though there will be far more excitement regarding who might come in if they are playing Premier League football once again.

And with Leeds sat second in the table, rumours have already started as to who might move to Elland Road with Borussia Monchengladbach left-back Luca Netz the first name to be linked.

Netz is, of course, familiar with Daniel Farke after the Leeds manager’s spell in charge at Gladbach, with the 20-year-old having been there almost three years after joining in the summer of 2021.

Netz seen as one of Germany’s best young left-backs

Upon joining Gladbach from Hertha Berlin, Netz was hailed as one of the ‘most promising’ young left-backs across the whole of Germany by former sporting director Max Eberl, who is now at Bayern Munich, in an interview with the club.

He said: “Luca Netz is a very exciting player and someone we have had our eye on for a while. He is one of Germany’s most promising talents in his position and we’re delighted that he has opted to join Borussia Mönchengladbach.”

Netz certainly seems like a talented young player having already amassed 77 senior appearances for Gladbach. It is also a position Leeds will need to address, with Junior Firpo potentially on his way out, and Sam Byram out of contract.

However, Leeds will have to be more careful with the amount of young players they bring in, as they already have one of the youngest squads in the Championship.

Leeds also made the mistake of buying too many high potential players back when they were last in the Premier League, so it will be important to get the balance right, if they get promoted.
