Leeds United will already be putting the building blocks in place for the summer transfer window.

Nick Hammond, Gretar Steinsson and co are likely to have a plan in place in the event they are promoted, and if they stay in the Championship to ensure they are well prepared.

Leeds currently sit second in the Championship on 79 points from 37 matches and know that a win by two or more goals would move them top of the table ahead of the international break.

So, with the Whites in such a strong position, the first rumour as to who they might sign has already surfaced, and according to Give Me Sport, that man is Borussia Monchengladbach left-back Luca Netz.

The report states that Leeds have been scouting Netz throughout the season, but could face plenty of competition from Premier League big boys Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Leeds scouting Gladbach’s Netz

Netz, of course, is well known to Leeds boss Daniel Farke with the two having worked together during the 47-year-old’s time in charge of Monchengladbach last season.

Leeds are almost certainly set to be in the market for a new left-back regardless of the division they find themselves in, with Sam Byram out of contract and having had a number of injury problems.

Junior Firpo has been first choice as of late but has also struggled with fitness during his three years at Elland Road. He also found the Premier League difficult after moving from Barcelona.

Netz is only 20 and so has plenty of potential having already made 73 appearances for Gladbach’s first team, scoring two goals and providing 13 assists.

Having burst onto the scene back in 2021, Netz also previously claimed he rejected a move to Manchester City, suggesting just how highly he is rated across football.
