Leeds United will already be making plans behind-the-scenes ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Whites’ newly formed recruitment team will already be laying the groundwork for both eventualities of the season, with the potential of playing either Premier League or Championship football still up in the air.
Should Leeds achieve their goal of promotion, there would be several positions in the squad that require reinforcements and one of those would certainly be left-back.
Junior Firpo is reportedly unlikely to be handed a new deal with his current one set to expire in 2025, while Sam Byram is out of contract at the end of the season. With that in mind, Borussia Monchengladbach’s Luca Netz is already someone who has been linked in the last 24 hours.
Leeds manager Daniel Farke actually worked with Netz during his time at Gladbach recently and speaking last season, has already given a glowing review about the 20-year-old’s potential.

He said: “Luca is a young guy and already has 50 Bundesliga games under his belt. Nobody doubts that he can play at this level. For him, it’s now about proving that with consistent performances, in every training session and every game.
“He is developing week by week and is putting pressure on Ramy. I am sure that a very good career at Borussia lies ahead of him, but he has to earn the position of being a regular player like everybody else.”
At just 20, Netz has already made 73 appearances for Gladbach’s first team, scoring two goals and registering 13 assists. 23 of those came under Farke last season.
Netz already has some of England’s biggest clubs on his trail alongside Leeds, with Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United all also said to be keen.
Clearly given his history with Farke this is a link that makes sense for Leeds and it will be interesting to see if he is someone they go for, if promotion is achieved in the next two months.
