An exciting player that has emerged on Leeds United’s radar this window is Strasbourg’s Habib Diarra.

Leeds are said to be in a transfer chase for the midfielder, with a £22m bid for Diarra being readied.

The 21-year-old has seriously impressed in France and is a converted option this summer for the Whites and other clubs.

It’s clear that the 49ers are the only party to have tabled a bid thus far though, and Leeds can take a convincing lead.

Graham Smyth confirmed Diarra’s pursuit, but there is something that hasn’t been revealed in this deal, as the midfielder has a hidden secret.

The Senegalese box-to-box midfielder would make for a major improvement in Daniel Farke’s plans.

It’s clear Diarra brings something different, which has worked so well for Strasbourg boss Liam Rosenior this season.

His endurance is an exciting aspect, but Diarra isn’t afraid to play his part in goals, which has helped guide the French side to Champions League football next campaign.

Strasbourg are stalling with Diarra, which will frustrate Leeds, but the 49ers could find a loophole to speed things up.

Strasbourg President Marc Keller confirmed to French outlet DNA Sports that Diarra has a release clause during this transfer window, after an agreement was reached two years ago during his contract extension, but it is not known how much this clause is.

However, it is certainly something Leeds should explore.

Diarra adds something different for Farke’s Leeds side

A midfielder should certainly be on the radar for the Whites, and this is seemingly their plan.

In fact, a central midfielder is a ‘priority’, but Diarra gives something Leeds don’t really have.

Joe Rothwell leaving leaves a gap for a proper box-to-box player in the middle of the park, and that’s what Diarra excels at through his touches in attacking areas and duels won at the back.

His ability to provide in different areas of the pitch could be crucial to Leeds staying in the Premier League, and with a potential release clause available, the 49ers can get this transfer wrapped up.
