Jaka Bijol is a name that has appeared on Leeds United’s radar in recent days, potentially marking a major coup.

It’s clear that the 49ers and Daniel Farke are getting to work behind the scenes as Bijol could sign at Leeds for £17m.

The Slovenian defender has proved to be a real success in Italy, and it could really help Farke in terms of his defensive exploits.

At LeedsUnited.News we had previously tipped Bijol to be in Leeds’ starting XI as it could soon become a real possibility.

Well, what the 26-year-old said previously gives Leeds every chance to sign him, as it’s a very intriguing claim.

Leeds United have a major advantage in landing Jaka Bijol

The Whites are looking unlikely to complete any signings before the window shuts for the Club World Cup on June 10th.

This was expected, as the 49ers likely wanted to get operations fully underway after the competition commenced.

Bijol could be the start of something special this window, but there will be serious competition from AC Milan, who look to keep the stalwart in the Serie A.

However, with the defender entering his prime years, after three seasons in Italy, he might be keen to make a change.

This was revealed when he spoke to The Italian Football Podcast as Bijol outlined his career goal.

“I have the ambition to play in the Premier League, I hope that comes true,” Bijol said.

Bijol would fit the Premier League to a tee

If the Slovenian did sign, he would really have to step up what is already an impressive game.

Udine has been the home to Bijol for the last three years, and he might get a real shock when he moves to Yorkshire in the summer if everything goes to plan.

But what he can rely on is physicality, as when comparing the two leagues, history shows that the English top-flight can be a cruel mistress for many players coming from abroad, but this is where the Udinese centre-back shines.

Tackles won25

This just shows that the 49ers’ new transfer approach could work excellently, as signing the ‘brilliant’ player that is Bijol might be a masterclass.
