Leeds United are closing in on a deal for Sean Longstaff and fellow midfielder Anton Stach may not be far behind the Newcastle United ace.
The 49ers and Daniel Farke have worked together to dramatically improve Leeds United’s defensive options, with them appearing to work their way forward as the transfer window progresses.
Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff are next for Leeds as they look to sort out their midfield, but other areas of the team also need resolutions.
At least six players are expected to sign for Leeds after Longstaff, although that includes Stach. A more attacking midfielder, a winger, a striker, a goalkeeper, and full-back cover are all expected before September’s deadline.

Graham Smyth outlines a new Leeds goalkeeper after Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff deals
Leeds face a late Stach scare with interest ramping up, but Graham Smyth of The Yorkshire Evening Post has explained that a deal for him is progressing.
He wrote: “The Whites are expected to announce the signing of midfielder Sean Longstaff, continue to work towards a deal for Hoffenheim midfielder Anton Stach.”
In the same piece, he added that Leeds “are believed to be making progress on the addition of a first-choice goalkeeper to Daniel Farke’s squad.”
Of course, they suffered a blow in their pursuit of Vanja Milinkovic-Savic as he heads to Napoli, but there are other options that Leeds have been working on.
Robin Zentner is one option for Leeds, while the talk of Lyon’s Lucas Perri and Leeds also refuses to go away. It’s not yet clear who it will be, but Smyth has confirmed progress has been made.
It won’t be Aaron Ramsdale or Senne Lammens, though. Smyth has confirmed that neither are currently in Leeds’ plans for a new goalkeeper in 2025/26.

Graham Smyth explains the latest on Illan Meslier’s situation at Leeds
Smyth also claims that Illan Meslier is more than likely set to depart this month, he adds: “Some interest in Illan Meslier is starting to pick up. Don’t believe it’s reached firm offer stage yet though.
“Leeds obviously looking for a keeper and making progress on that front we believe, so writing might very well be on the wall.”
Meslier is set to leave and be replaced at Leeds, with Karl Darlow then acting as understudy to a new number-one between the sticks.
His six-year stay at the club looks like it will come to an end, which will benefit Leeds in terms of PSR. Meslier is in the final year of his Elland Road contract.
