Gabriel Gudmundsson has shared what his first goal is at Leeds United and how he can help the team be a success in the Premier League.
Leeds United have made Gabriel Gudmundsson their fourth signing of the summer transfer window after confirming his arrival on Tuesday, July 8.
Daniel Farke was in desperate need of a new left-back following Junior Firpo’s departure and Leeds have paid around £10m to secure Gudmundsson as his replacement from Lille.
The Swedish 26-year-old follows Lukas Nmecha, Jaka Bijol and Sebastiaan Bornauw to Elland Road as Leeds enhance their squad with experienced operators ahead of returning to the Premier League.
Gudmundsson has signed a four-year deal that will keep him at Leeds until 2029 and he has already met up with his teammates in training, as Leeds cheekily revealed on social media before the confirmation.
Now he has explained that he hopes to bring stability to the Leeds back-line.

What Gabriel Gudmundsson said after signing for Leeds United
Speaking to Leeds United’s official YouTube channel after signing for the club, Gudmundsson revealed that he hopes his European experience will help the team as they move up to the Premier League.
When asked what his first target was after sealing his transfer from France, Gudmundsson said: “The first goal, for me, is obviously that [get in the team] and to help the team with my qualities,
“That’s what I came here to do.
“With the experience I gained in the last few years, I hope to help the team with that.
He was then asked to elaborate on his qualities, to which he added: “Stable and also gained some experience in European competition lately, I hope to bring that to the team.
“I’m up to the challenge. I’m really looking forward to playing here in front of all the fans with my new teammates and getting to know everyone.”
That defensive stability will be particularly useful for Farke as he is working to ensure his team is solid enough at the back to withstand the pressure Leeds will find themselves under in the top flight.
Gabriel Gudmundsson explains what he already knows about Leeds
Gudmundsson already has a connection to English football as his father, Niklas Gudmundsson, spent time at Blackburn Rovers and Ipswich Town between 1995-1997.
Gudmundsson Senior never played against Leeds but was an unused substitute at Elland Road for one match, and Gudmundsson Jr has also shared what he already knows about the club.
“When I was growing up watching the Premier League, my father played there as well. There’s a bit of connection there already.
“Actually, my friend’s family told me that the fan base is huge and obviously I know that and the stadium here is unbelievable, with the fans shouting,” he said.
“Amazing. It’s got a good reputation around the world, Leeds fans and the stadium here. I’m looking forward to it.”
