Fabrizio Romano has shared a major Leeds United transfer update, revealing that a target is jetting out for a medical on Wednesday.

After securing their place in the Premier League for another season, the Whites are gearing up for a crucial summer transfer window.

Defensive reinforcements are expected to be on the agenda, with a backup for Gabriel Gudmundsson at left-back poised to be signed.

Centre-back is also a position Leeds United are looking at, as Pascal Struijk faces an uncertain future in LS11 after entering the final year of his contract.

Whether or not Struijk leaves, Daniel Farke‘s side need to strengthen their defence after switching to a three-man defence last term.

Al-Ahli agree deal to sign Leeds United target

According to Romano, Al-Ahli have agreed a deal to sign Abubacarr Sedi Kinteh from Tromso IL.

The transfer journalist reported that the Saudi Pro League club have beaten European clubs to the centre-back’s signature, with Leeds United likely to be one of them.

Kinteh is already on his way to Lisbon for a medical, accompanied by his agent Cherno Samba.

Romano has not issued his iconic ‘Here We Go’ yet, but a deal for the 19-year-old to move to Saudi Arabia is sealed.

This comes less than two weeks after it emerged that Leeds United have ‘gathered information’ on the Tromso ace.

FC Koln have also been pushing hard to sign the teenager, and had a £4.3million bid turned down by Tromso in May.

The German club were tipped to increase the offer to £5.2m, but the efforts were in vain.

Leeds to look elsewhere for defensive reinforcements

This is unlikely to be a huge blow for Leeds United, as Kinteh was unlikely to go straight into Farke’s starting lineup anyway.

The West Yorkshire club are looking at other options to add depth to their backline, as evidenced by their interest in departing Union Berlin centre-back Diogo Leite.

The Elland Road outfit are also working on a deal to sign Ousmane Diomande from Sporting CP for a club-record fee.
