Leeds United are in the market for a new striker this summer, as The Whites look to find a No.9 that can score the goals to keep Leeds in the Premier League next season.
Leeds currently have three options up top. Joel Piroe netted 19 times during the 2024-25 season, with four of those coming in the recent 6-0 win over Stoke. Before those four, he didn’t score in nine games.
There are doubts over whether the Dutchman would be able to score the goals necessary to keep The Whites in the top tier. Piroe is renowned for going missing at times and Leeds simply cannot afford that.
Patrick Bamford is expected to leave this summer and Mateo Joseph remains a target for Real Betis, after their failed bid to sign him in January. Leeds need a striker they can place their confidence in to score.
Daniel Farke is a big admirer of Troy Parrott after Leeds links
Leeds are supposedly interested in Ireland striker Troy Parrott. The former Tottenham star is currently in The Netherlands with AZ Alkmaar, where has starred – scoring 20 goals in 45 games, creating five more.
Plenty of clubs are interested in Parrott following his exploits this season and reports say a whopping fee has been placed on his head. Alkmaar want a £21.3m fee for his signature if he is to leave this summer.
The Irish Mirror report that Daniel Farke himself, is a big fan of Parrott. They claim that Farke himself has been keeping tabs on Parrott in both the Eredivisie this season, and his form in the Europa League.
Parrott certainly has his confidence back, claiming he is a better striker than Dominic Solanke. The latter is currently first choice at Tottenham while Parrott never made the grade in North London, with Spurs.
The issue with Troy Parrott ahead of Premier League season
If Leeds have learned anything from Southampton, Ipswich and Leicester, is that they need players with proven Premier League experience. Certainly, it is something Leeds lacked when relegated in 2022-23.

Leeds made signings from overseas, players that lacked the know how in England’s top tier. Parrott has played in the Premier League, but only twice – as a late substitute during Jose Mourinho’s Spurs era.
He’s struggled in the Championship when he’s gone on loan. Leeds need to take into account that while Parrott looks to have finally found his feet and is proving his potential, the Premier League is a step up.
