More and more strikers are being linked with summer moves to Leeds United. Right now though, Joel Piroe is providing the goods.
Joel Piroe took his season tally to 15 in the Championship after hammering home the third goal in Leeds United’s 3-1 win over Sheffield United on Monday.
The Dutchman has certainly had his critics this season. But Piroe continues to score goals and help fire Leeds towards the Premier League, with Daniel Farke’s side now five points clear at the top of the Championship table.
It’s been suggested that Leeds United could finish comfortably in the Premier League with the squad they’ve already got. But Farke won’t count on his current players to serve him in the top flight next season, should they earn promotion.
Additions would be vital in ensuring the Whites stand any chance of staying in the top flight and strikers could be at the front of Farke’s thinking, with numbers very thin on the ground in attack.
Leeds United are linked with several strikers ahead of the summer, with one being Norwich City’s Josh Sargent.

Leeds United told ‘huge bid’ needed to sign Josh Sargent
Farke wants to bring his former Norwich City hitman Sargent to Elland Road. Leeds United are again being linked with Sargent ahead of the summer transfer window, amid what’s proving to be a stellar season for the USMNT star who’s now scored 11 and assisted five in just 20 Championship appearances this season.
Sargent scored twice against Stoke City last weekend. He’s giving the Canaries a late hope of a top six finish and BBC reporter Chris Goreham has been discussing his season so far, hailing the 25-year-old who moved to Carrow Road in an £8million deal in 2021.
Goreham writes in a column for Pink Un that Sargent is ‘bound to attract interest’ but that ‘it would take a huge bid to tempt City to sell him’. The American remains under contract until 2028.

Leeds United not alone in race to sign Josh Sargent at Norwich City
Sargent has steadily asserted himself as one of the Championship’s most prolific strikers. He’s now scored 40 goals in the last three Championship seasons, but Leeds aren’t the only team taking a look at Sargent.
Speaking to Leeds United News recently, transfer expert Graeme Bailey gave his verdict on Sargent to Leeds United, revealing: “Many people think that Sargent is the best striker in the Championship, and it’s hard for anyone to argue against that.
“But Norwich are not ruling out promotion yet, and he won’t be leaving Carrow Road if they do earn promotion. But he is really starting to attract interest from many Premier League clubs.”
Should Sargent remain prolific until the summer then it’ll only bump up his asking price, whatever that might be right now, and bring more and more clubs into the race for his signature.
But if Norwich are promoted then there’s no chance he leaves. If they miss out, which seems more likely, then Leeds could pounce, and Farke could be the deciding factor.
