Like many other opposing managers, Tom Cleverley was left in awe of Leeds United on Tuesday night as Daniel Farke’s swashbuckling side pounced on Watford’s form and secured a 4-0 win.
Leeds stretched their unbeaten run in the Championship to 14 games, winning 10 in the process with a 4-0 victory over The Hornets at Vicarage Road. Any concerns about away form have come and now gone.
Dan James netted a brace, while Joel Piroe and Manor Solomon also added to their tally for the season to take Leeds five points clear of Sheffield United, eight ahead of Burnley. Both sides play on Wednesday.
Before Gary Rowett became Oxford United manager, interim boss Craig Short said Leeds were the best team in the league. Recently-sacked Derby County boss Paul Warne said the same about Leeds of late.

Tom Cleverley makes big claim about Leeds in Premier League
Instead of simply saying Leeds are good enough for the Premier League, or the best team in England’s second tier, Watford manager Cleverley went one step further when delivering his verdict on Leeds.
In fact, Cleverley – who has impressed in his role as Watford manager – told his press conference that he feels Leeds are on a similar level to Fulham having suffered a 4-1 FA Cup defeat to the London side.
“We go to Fulham, you see what a mid-table Premier League side looks like. That looks like something close to that level. They punished us heavily. That comes with pace, quality, a very high calibre of player.”
How many more wins do Leeds need to secure promotion?
Normally, the 90-point total is enough to get a team promoted but of course last season, that was not enough for Farke’s Leeds. In 2019-20, Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds clocked up 93 points and finished in first.
Carlton Palmer said Leeds needed nine wins before the win over Coventry, and Adam Pope said Leeds needed eight wins before last night’s win over Watford. Both think 90 points gets the job done this term.
Even if Leeds secured seven wins, that means they would fail to do so on another seven occasions from the remaining 14 games. At the moment, it just seems impossible Leeds are going to drop any points.
