Emi Buendia remains one of Leeds United’s priorities for the January transfer window but news has now emerged over the weekend that Bayer Leverkusen want to sign the Aston Villa ace.
Buendia of course, starred under Daniel Farke at Norwich. The Argentina international had a hand in 51 goals in 77 Championship games under the German manager while with the Canaries at Carrow Road.
Currently, Leeds lack a no.10. Farke said he wants three new signings before the deadline and top of the list for The Whites is competition for Brenden Aaronson in attacking midfield, with Aaronson inconsistent.
Buendia has been strongly linked with Leeds. Graeme Bailey told LeedsUnited.News he believes there is a good chance of a deal happening but over the weekend, it emerged Bayer Leverkusen want Buendia.

Leeds blow as Emi Buendia stance revealed by Florian Plettenberg
Interestingly, Buendia started for Aston Villa in the Champions League and impressed for the Midlands club in a 1-0 loss to Monaco last week. Later today, Aston Villa take on West Ham in the Premier League.
Despite Leeds being hellbent on a reunion between Farke and Buendia, it has now emerged that Buendia is keen on joining Leverkusen. That is according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg in an update on X.
He reported: “Bayer 04 Leverkusen are continuing to work on a transfer for Emiliano Buendia. There were new talks today, but no agreement has been reached yet. Buendia, high on the list of Leverkusen.
“28-year-old versatile attacking midfielder, open to join Xabi Alonso and Bayer 04 with immediate effect. But more steps to go,” Plettenberg reported on Saturday afternoon as the window reaches its climax.
What other attacking midfielders could Leeds now turn to?
Of all the players that Leeds have been linked to over the course of the January transfer window, there really is only a couple of attacking midfielders. One is Burnley’s Josh Brownhill but that seems unlikely.
Another is Real Salt Lake’s Diego Luna. Luna earned praise from Mauricio Pochettino last week having suffered a broken nose while with the United States, but then laid on an assist against Venezuela.
The chances are that with Buendia now seemingly unavailable unless a move to Leverkusen does not materialise, a new name could emerge out of Leeds if The Whites do end up trying to sign a new no.10.
