Leeds United are likely to be planning a few moves ahead of the January transfer window behind the scenes, after failing to bolster their promotion push during last season’s winter market.
Last season, Leeds only managed to sign one player in the January window. They solved their right-back issue by signing Connor Roberts on loan from Burnley, but failed to address a lack of strength in depth.
Ethan Ampadu moved to centre-back and it left a gap in midfield. Another attacker might not have gone amiss, and this time round, Daniel Farke cannot let Leeds fall behind by failing to move in the window.
Graham Smyth expects Leeds to sign a no.10 in January, but The Whites could do with other additions to bolster a promotion push. Perhaps, another midfielder or a striker that can score the necessary goals.

Carlton Palmer says Leeds can sign Josh Brownhill for bargain fee
LeedsUnited.News were told this week that Leeds United are among the clubs eyeing Burnley midfielder Josh Brownhill. The 28-year-old finds himself out of contract at the end of the current 2024-25 season.
Brownhill has been a key part of Scott Parker’s side this season, scoring five Championship goals from he middle of the park. Leeds are not alone in their pursuit of Brownhill, with Celtic and Rangers also keen.
Former Leeds midfielder Carlton Palmer has told Football League World that he thinks Leeds or any other interested parties can sign Brownhill for a bargain fee of just £1.5m and £2m, given his contract situation.
“Burnley have two choices, they can let the contract run down and get promotion and worry about it later, or cash in in January. At the end of the day, this is the last chance you’re going to get any money for him.
“What is he worth? With his contract, maybe £1.5m to £2m. Burnley might keep him until the end of the season. If, in fact, he doesn’t sign a new contract it wouldn’t surprise me,” Palmer added, on Brownhill.

Graeme Bailey says Josh Brownhill is aware of Leeds’ interest
The transfer expert told us earlier this week that Brownhill is a long-term target for Leeds. However, the chances of Burnley allowing him to leave mid-season to a direct promotion rival in Leeds seems unlikely.
On Thursday, Graeme Bailey told LeedsUnited.News: “Got a lot of targets like that. Leeds have got a list A and a list B. Leeds would love to get involved in the Brownhill sweepstakes,” Bailey said on Brownhill.
“They can’t really get involved that heavily right now. Brownhill knows they’re there, Leeds are interested. He’s one of a few like that, very similar options that they are looking at like that. Let’s see where they are.”
Whether Leeds actually need Brownhill is another debate altogether. Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell are adding a bit more attacking impetus in midfield, but neither have managed to find the back of the net.
Brownhill would give Leeds another attacking option and possibly, a player who could cover Brenden Aaronson in the 10 role and provide competition. But, that is not his best position so, one to watch.
