Kalvin Phillips is trying to get his career back on track with Premier League new boys Ipswich Town. So far though, it’s been a struggle for the former Leeds United hero.

Since leaving Leeds United for Manchester City in 2022, Kalvin Phillips has had a bit of a roller coater journey. He’s had some highs and some lows in that time. Of late though, it’s mainly been lows.

The 29-year-old is currently on loan at Ipswich Town where he’s played just 10 times in the Premier League this season, following what was a nightmare spell on loan at West Ham in the second half of last season.

Leeds United have been linked with a return for Phillips, though it looks like the Whites would need Premier League football to stand any chance of re-signing the England international.

And as one former Leeds star vies to keep Ipswich Town in the Premier League following their unlikely promotion last time round, another could be abut to join the Tractor Boys in Glen Kamara.

Glen Kamara could seal Premier League switch with Ipswich Town linked

It’s recently been revealed that Sunderland are keeping tabs on Kamara, who left Elland Road last summer after just one season in West Yorkshire.

Kamara, 29, joined from Rangers in a deal worth around £5million, played 40 times in Championship fixtures, then left for Rennes where he’s since played 13 times in Ligue 1.

Now though, TBR report that Premier League duo Ipswich Town and Southampton are also keen on signing Kamara during the January transfer window.

The Saints are currently in last place of the table on six points, compared to Ipswich Town in 18th and on 15 points; just one point from safety.

Glen Kamara comments may have backfired after Leeds United exit

Kamara’s summer exit was a surprising one given the fact that Leeds spent a decent bit of money on him, and that he’d only been with the club for one season.

Soon after joining Rennes, Kamara explained why he Left Leeds United. Looking back on his comments about ambitions with Leeds now sitting in 1st place of the Championship table, he may come to rue his decision.

Kamara said: “I had very good first contacts with the managers. I came here because the club has ambition.

“I know that it was built in particular thanks to the training of great players, it is a talent factory. I hope my experience will help to have the best possible season. There are plenty of assets here to succeed.”

But Kamara might fast-track to the Premier League with a move to one of Ipswich or Southampton. Still, with both looking likely to go down and Leeds challenging to go up, it might be Leeds who have the last laugh.
