Leeds United are expected to make a few signings between now and the end of the summer window and one player linked with a move to Elland Road has left behind from his side’s trip to America.

While Leeds are targeting a new full-back to provide cover for Junior Firpo, Sam Byram and Jayden Bogle and a new midfielder able to score goals, it might be that Leeds need to do some replacing as well.

Everton are unlikely to sign Wilfried Gnonto this summer but the Italian continues to be linked with the exit door. Crysencio Summerville too of course, with West Ham willing to pay £20m for the Dutchman.

With Jaidon Anthony returning to Bournemouth and Ian Poveda leaving on a free for Sunderland, Leeds could enter the market for a winger. One option has just been left at home by a Premier League outfit.

Described as “magical” by Roy Hodgson, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi has endured a difficult 12 months. Having starred at Charlton on loan in 2022-23 in which he had a hand in 22 goals, he returned to Crystal Palace.

The winger was expected to play a part in the senior side but only managed eight first-team appearances. He needs a move this summer and plenty of clubs are looking at a deal for the wide man, including Leeds.

Leeds are said to be one of 18 Championship clubs interested in a loan for Rak-Sakyi, while Southampton are preparing a £12m bid to land the winger. Now, Alan Nixon reports he has been left behind by Palace.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi has a big decision to make this summer

On his Patreon channel, Nixon says Palace are ‘surprised’ by Rak-Sakyi staying at home as clubs queue up for his signature. They had expected the skilful winger to join them on their trip to America this summer.

Leeds will only be interested in Rak-Sakyi if one of Summerville or Gnonto does go, but it might be by the time a club does move for Summerville or Gnonto that Rak-Sakyi might already be leaving the Eagles.

There is a big decision to make for Rak-Sakyi in whether he is tempted by the lure of a big-money move to a Premier League club, or he continues the progression of his career in England’s second tier.
