Galastasaray have just had bid rejected for ‘amazing’ £17m Leeds target

Leeds United are in the market for a new central midfielder that can add goals to Daniel Farke’s side and one player on the Elland Road radar is the subject of an offer from Galatasaray.

Farke has said himself that Leeds need another full-back and a midfielder, while Nancy Froston says in her latest piece on The Athletic that the Leeds boss wants more goals from midfield during the 2024-25 term.

Leeds have waved goodbye to both Archie Gray and Glen Kamara, leaving them particularly light in the middle of the park. But the duo managed one goal between them, Gray’s deflected effort vs Leicester.

Joe Rothwell has been signed on loan from Bournemouth and he scored four goals for Southampton in a half-season loan spell last term. But another player on Leeds’ radar is Norwich’s Brazilian ace Gabriel Sara.

Leeds want Norwich’s Gabriel Sara but face plenty of competition

Sara has emerged as a ‘key target’ for Leeds over the weekend, after the 25-year-old stellar season last time out. The £17m-rated Norwich star had a hand in 25 goals, largely playing as one of two in a 4-2-3-1.

Described as “amazing” by new Norwich manager Johannes Hoff Thorup, Sara has plenty of suitors in his services including Premier League clubs. Leeds are confident of signing Sara due to their ‘close proximity’.

Sara wants to go but now it has emerged that a Leeds rival have entered the fray for his signature in the form of Turkish side Galatasaray. The SuperLig giants have a Champions League trump card to offer Sara.

Galatasaray table bid for Leeds target Sara, reply given

Well-renowned Turkish reporter Yago Sabuncuoglu has posted on X that Galatasaray have made a bid for Sara. He said: “Galatasaray’s first offer for Sara was rejected. Norwich want the bid to be increased.”

In a reply to one of the comments on the original post, the reporter states there is a difference of around £5m between the two sides. A fee that might be easily solved, and a compromise may be organised.

Norwich need to sell one big player this summer as parachute payments begin to dry up, and if Leeds are to enter the race for Sara then they need to get their skates on and open talks with the East Anglian side.
