Although Leeds United have now signed two new central midfielders in Sean Longstaff and Anton Stach, we can’t rule out another central midfield addition during this summer’s transfer window.
Leeds United’s summer transfer window has burst into life in the last week or so. Daniel Farke’s side were making steady progress and then the club announced the signings of Sean Longstaff and Anton Stach from Newcastle United and Hoffenheim respectively.
For the two central midfielders, Leeds United have paid more than £30million, which takes a significant chunk out of their reported £150million summer transfer budget. And despite their arrivals at Elland Road, central midfield options still remain somewhat thin, especially considering that Ilia Gruev could now leave Leeds United, having fallen well down the pecking order.
One name linked with a move to West Yorkshire is Raphael Onyedika at Club Brugge, but he now has interest emerging from elsewhere on the continent.

Fenerbahce see bid rejected for Leeds United transfer target Raphael Onyedika
Leeds United have been linked with a number of players in the Belgian Pro League so far this summer. One such player is central midfielder Onyedika, who currently plays for Club Brugge and the Nigerian national team.
At one point earlier in the summer, Leeds were quite strongly linked with a move for Onyedika before Farke seemingly turned his attention to the likes of Longstaff and Stach, although we cannot rule out the fact that Onyedika may still be an active target for Leeds this summer.
However, Farke will be interested to know that reports coming out of Turkey state that Fenerbahce have now seen a bid rejected for Onyedika this summer. Turkish outlet Fotomac report that Fenerbahce have now submitted an official €12million (£10.4million) bid for Onyedika, which the Belgian club have swiftly rejected it, viewing it to be too low.
Leeds United’s midfield priority seems clear now
Especially following the signing of Stach, Leeds United now seem to turn their attentions to other positions on the pitch, mainly in goal, up front, and in the number 10 position.
Whilst another holding midfield signing cannot be ruled out, especially if the likes of Gruev leaves Leeds this summer, it may be Farke’s main priority in midfield to sign a new number 10.
Brenden Aaronson continues to be linked with a move away from the club, and the likes of Emi Buendia and Gustavo Hamer appear to remain active transfer targets at Elland Road.
Onyedika may still be someone that the club is keeping an eye on, though after spending more than £30million on the likes of Longstaff and Stach, spending another significant chunk of money on Onyedika may not be on their to-do list.
Instead, expect significant money to be spent on a goalkeeper, a new number 10, and likely a new striker too.
